I hate painting even more than I hate woodwork! The paint gun is old and constantly drips from somewhere. Usually right over the panel if just painted! The only upside is that I have binned the paint gun so I don't have to clean it!

I used epoxy paint which is really scratch resistant. Also I use plastic tyre levers.

OK, it's not so bad. I've cut a slot in the tube so now the lock engages into the steel frame as well. Almost like I designed it that way

Of course, nothing is straight forward! The latch on the lock hits the pannier frame! So I will have to spend another couple of hours modifying the frame to give clearance. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A QUICK BUILD!!!

Hate working with wood! Particularly when I only have metalworking tools.

Going for it today! Both side doors fabricated and fitted. I have some locks on the way, and some batman wings.....

Another bent bit of metal later and I have a battery holder. I've also made a strip to go around the battery so it can be removed easily for charging. I've made so that it's impossible for the battery terminals to touch anything and short out. I've ordered a USB socket that I'm going to fit...

Erm, maybe not quite the look I'm going for. Thanks anyway.... There will be things bolted to the panniers, but not wings, sadly.

Thanks chaps, I didn't know I could change the name. It's still going to be "hot-rodded" though! You'll see....

Nope, after a bit more research, it's a Peugeot ns 40 from 1972. Ns stands for Nouveau Style. I like that. I wish that was what I called it now instead of shop rod. Oh well!

I've found out a little about the bike. It's a 1975 Peugeot Nsl 40 or 22. I've also found a picture of the lock

I didn't get much work done today. Once I finished the saddle I did some more on the pannier box. I cut the piano hinge I found in the garage to fit. Then I made a detailed engineering drawing..... Once I'd cut the panel out I started to fold it.

I used aluminium solid rivets. Normally I squash them with an air chisel. But I ordered a hand squeezer online a few days ago. The hand ones are less likely to mess up! Just as I got to the point of riveting the hand one was delivered! My first go with it.. So that's the saddle done. I know...

I took the saddle to the workshop as it needs a little more work. Firstly I welded the mounting holes up at the front cut the rear ones off, then painted the frame. I found a piece of stainless steel for the back. I folded it then bashed the one edge so that it stretched and caused the...

Thank you. I'm learning a lot! First thing I learnt was to open the window when using this glue......

Just had a look at it and it's well and truly stuck! I'm happy with that!
