Free '53 klunker, starting to look like a bike!

Re: Free '53 the Petty build. Frame modding. Seeing that Superbird brings back a memory - I was in the Navy and stationed on Whidbey Island, WA from 1969 to 1971. In town there was a car dealership that had a brand new one in white sitting in the lot. I had read about these and the Chargers w/...

    Story about 6-day races

Very Cool - hard to imagine two guys swapping off back and forth for 6 days non-stop. That's what I would call "Iron Men" Robert

    Sure, I'm Retired! Robert

    GT Performer

I confess I know absolutely zilch about all things BMX. But I have been fascinated by a lot of the cool looking stems that accompany this genre of bicycles and have bought quite a few. The colorful stems in one of the previous posts look great and I want a Purple one. Can anyone link me up with...

    Electra Straight 8,electric chopper project

I'm glad I do my builds for fun, otherwise I'd feel really bad after watching you build something so creative. You're the kind of guy I'd like to crawl inside your head to see how the whole process works. Fantastic build! Robert

    My firstest....

Great Job on the Saddle! I have a ton of saddles that could use a nice makeover like that. I'm also glad to see you found a CWC rear carrier to replace the Columbia - it not only solidifies the rear fender by bolting the two together with the fender/carrier bracket it also has the curved...

1939 Girls Elgin UPDATED ITS DONE Bicycle Restoration..

Re: 1939 Girls Elgin & 1930s mens Elgin Bicycle Restoration.. A lot of very cool parts on these two - they are definitely worth your time to fix up. Is that a grease fitting I see on the head tube of the boys bike? These oldies had all kinds of neat stuff going on. Have Fun! Robert

54' ROADMASTER LUXURY LINER 3 speed balloon tire

Hi! They also swapped sides w/ the lower trusses on the springer. From the factory the bumpers face forward - first time I've seen them reversed - kind of cool actually! Great Score! Robert

    145 link chain

If you contact an overhead door company that also sells parts like rubber gaskets and what not they will sell you garage door chain by the foot. Have Fun! Robert

    1950 Schwinn, odd color "distressed"

Wal Mart isn't always the best at keeping things stocked but I have seen Krylon Clear is Gloss, Satin and Flat. Have Fun! Robert

    1950 Schwinn, odd color "distressed"

I don't know if you are trying to age the headbadge or just dull out the shine. If it's the latter you could just spray it w/ Clear Flat from Wally World. Robert

    Custom Hawthorne

I really like how you did the seat post - bending it in a curve instead of straight w/ a bend really changes the look - I may steal this idea on another build - plus it travels past level with the ground which makes it look like it disappears into the saddle instead of the saddle sitting on top...

    The Devil May Ride...

Hi! Great frame to start with - my favorite style Cleveland Welding frame. Also a very unique Head Badge on a CWC bike - that's a keeper. And before I forget I want the sprocket off the bike you got your pedals from. There is an alternative for the seat post - Chad (slowriderz) makes custom...

1947 Cleveland Welding Motorbike Update 10/7/12

Re: 1947 Cleveland Welding Motorbike Update 10/6/12 Hi! I finally got all the woodwork stained & varnished for our remodel job so I have more time to work on this. I'm a big fan of pullback motorcycle handlebars - the one on my Roadster is off a '78 Yamaha. I picked these new ones up off...

    stripping chrome with cola?

White Vinegar attacking rust is originally why I started using it. But I forgot a pair of saddle springs and that was my first experience with chrome removal. Now if I have a part that's partially rusted but still has some chrome I'll strip it down to bear metal and then SAND it with Crocus...

    WCC front fork length?

It depends on the length of your frame head tube - the shorter your head tube the more usable length you have to mount a wheel. In the pics below I snagged this WCC for parts and the previous owner had installed a 26" wheel on the front fork. There is still 7" above the wheel and the frame head...

What do you listen to when you build?

RUSH LIMBAUGH !!! Sorry, that joke wasn't even funny. I'm a sing along kind of guy so the "Classic Hits" of the last 6 decades pretty well covers it. I'm also one of those guys that continues to hum over and over the last song I heard - sometimes I get so sick of hearing the same song...

    stripping chrome with cola?

Perfect solution, cheap and safe to put your hands in - White Vinegar. Buy a tote the size you need from Wal Mart and submerge the rack in White Vinegar. When the Vinegar turns black in a few days you are done. You may want to use gloves to remove the parts because the vinegar will turn your...

CWC Lone Star Whites Auto Before/After photos

I agree with you - very cool head badge for a Cleveland Welding bike. This is my favorite CWC frame configuration - two gradual curving top tubes with the rear facing drop outs. That chain guard is a very rare and valuable part also the way it goes all the way back and wraps around the sprocket...
