    1956 JC Higgins

Awesome find! By the way, I think this bike is fairly rare. The tank and guard look like Murray parts, but the fork and 3 piece bottom bracket suggest it was made overseas. I think this could be one of the bikes made during the strike at the Murray factory in '55 (? hope someone can verify the...

    Father-in-law xmas presents

Nice! Both of 'em are sweet bikes. If the peppered rust on the chrome isn't too bad, some 0000 grade steel wool and WD40 or simple green (just something wet to help you out) might work pretty well. Simple green cleans chrome parts pretty well in general, and I like it because it is non-toxic and...

    Shelby Stelber ot JC Higgins?????

Nice find. I always love unusual JCH's. I have seen a few Higgins bikes that appear to have Shelby parts, but this one strikes me more as a CBC / Ross bike than a Shelby one (based on the chainring and dropouts). Hope someone can deny/verify that. Last year, there was a JC Higgins bike at a...

    Cool 80's straight bar cruiser!!

Some clear pictures of the welds, dropouts, upper and lower rear stay, etc. should help on a positive ID. I'm very curious to know what this is too.

    Cool 80's straight bar cruiser!!

I think Nick is on to something. Now that I look at again, the headbadge is similar in shape to an Emory badge, and I think the Emory made Webco frames had that looped upper rear stay. The sprocket looks like some I have seen on other Emory bikes as well. I think it probably is an Emory or Emory...

    Cool 80's straight bar cruiser!!

Cool. Very unusual! If it weren't for the looped upper rear stay, the rest of it looks like a prewar motobike. The triple plate fork is what definitely throws me off... I would expect a tubular fork. The rear stays/ rear end in general look kind-of Murray-ish if that is any help. A clearer pic...

Specs on 1" head tube thread..?

Hey guys, This one might be a long shot. I'm modeling the Schwinn style springer fork in Solidworks 2011 and I'm ready to cut some thread on my headtube. The only problem is, I have no specs on the thread and I haven't had any luck searching the interwebs :( Sheldon Brown's site says it is 24...

I bet those discs are worth some coin.

My friend gave me this. What a guy!

Nice find! That's a Huffman. I don't know what year, but I know someone else will. The crank is from a Colson, so it is definitely not original. It probably has 52 teeth (I think Colson sprockets of this design only came in a 52T size) which would explain the cut in the stay: I'm sure it was...

    I just got a...???

That is Murray built for sure. The dropouts, chainguard, and crank are all signature of Murray.

Kingfish254's Finds - Over Ten Years of Kingfish Scores!!

Re: Kingfish254's Finds - 10/24 - NOS 5 Speed Stick Shifters I think that the overload tube is there to protect the cable. If you don't have one, at least on one of these stick shifters, I think it is possible to stress the cable out when you really pull the stick back. If you shifted and hit...

Couple of PreWars for the days haul

I think the first one is a Colson. It almost looks like a long wheelbase Colson, in fact. I wouldn't know the year for sure, but I would guess late '30s. I don't know for certain on either of those things though, hopefully someone can correct or verify me. What a shame, on the Schwinn. That...

    Fat Flyte ( It's A Rider!)

Re: Fat Flyte ( Finally Painted) YES. Big, swoopy, moon bars! The paint on this thing really is flawless. The fork really doesn't look that bad, either. EDIT: This thing would be INSANE with a set of Shelby air flow handlebars... I can see it now, tubing flying around in every...

It's a Histop, and yes, surprisingly, the hub is holding up real well. Sorry about the brain fart, you are right.
