I can't offer any insights on the year, but... the serial number seems interesting; M502 is the way that the serial no.'s of Murray built Sears bikes began (at least, I think so!). Perhaps the Murray built WF's all had serial no.'s starting with just M02.

The dropouts look Huffy- that is probably not a bad guess.

Re: Cool Blue(Update 3/13) -This thing is going to be nasty. I love Colson's. I had a 1949 blister tank myself at 14 years of age. :wink: I am impressed with your bikes... you've got me beat and I just turned 17. :D Keep it up! Always good to see other 'kids' into this!

I believe the AMF has a Murray fork.

Another great way to strip non factory paint off the original is Simple Green cleaner. I find a good soaking in a concentrated Simple Green bath does the trick nice. Even shines up the O.G. paint. :wink:

Holy crow! This is beautiful and I've come back to the thread many times, but I never noticed the Worcester plate until now. Is that a Worcester, Mass. plate? It sure looks like one... I've got matching Columbia's with the same plate. I live 30 minutes south or Worcester... amazing that this...

The chainring is definitely Murray. I'm not sure about the fork. My gut says Snyder (chainguard and fork crown are giving me Snyder vibes!), but I really don't know for sure.

+1. I would be super happy to have found that beast... cool as is but definitely an awesome stash of parts too. The straight tubular fork with brake studs is a nice score in my mind...

What a haul! NICE. Are those hubs all NOS as I assume the brake parts are?

That thing is IT. :wink: Looks really well made... the craftsmanship is remarkable... I vote klunker all the way.

I vote to leave it as is. The rust adds a lot, IMO... gives it an old school look- not that it wasn't classic already, but the patina helps it really fit the bill :mrgreen:
