Usually you need 55-57 links. You add extra links to your chain. It is a bit more difficult than with a modern chain due to their width, but it isn't too difficult.

More pics in a bit. So far I have found old school bmx seats, the lever for the manual Bendix, LOTS of pegs, LOTS of cables, box o' flat wrenches, box of allen wrenches, more rim strips than I could ever use, and lots more.
