    Wartime Shelby Middleweight??

Typical wartime bikes were like this, plain lightweights. I'd agree it's a Shelby. -Adam

    Western / Sonic Flyer

It's a 24" bike, so collectability would be really low. Not a big loss. -Adam

    How'd Ya Get Started

For those that haven't heard the story, in the summer of '80, I was 9 yrs old. I was always into old stuff. At a garage sale, I was smitten with a very rusty black Schwinn Corvette. It was born in Oct. '56, so a '57 model. Price was $2.50! I still have it! Every year I think "I need to get Old...

L.W. Keenan Champion branded bikes...Colson Heavy Service and ACE HIGH brands as well

There are some fairly obscure store badges out there! I have two J & R Flyers, one is a Shelby built '30s motobike, the other a wartime Monark built bike with blackout hubs. And, I've only heard of maybe one other! -Adam

    24" Motor Bike Frame?

It was probably a 26" bike, which was the 24" of the motobike era, with wood or clad rims. -Adam

    Iverson (?) Highspeed muscle bike

Iversons were mostly built by CBC/Ross, for Stelber. Stelber was primarily an importer/distributor, part of a network of companies. I thought they never manufactured any bikes or parts, but apparently they dabbled in it. But, for the most part, Stelber badged bikes, as well as the '56 JC...

    Need help !!

Also, the amf stars chain ring was used mostly between '58-'63. ~Adam

    Firestone Cruiser

Firestone had their own proprietary coding system. There's a post on the Cabe that explains it somewhat. I do know the Murray built Firestones show up in the catalogs in the late '40s. ~Adam

Need help ID'ing this pre-war "Schwinn"...

Yes, it's a Murray built frame, they built these into the '50s. Added Schwinn badge, seat, and wheels. The BB codes will narrow things down. ~Adam

    Late 60s Sears......but what?

The Flightliner was the model name until the mid '60s, after the JC Higgins brand name was phased out. The newer versions don't have a name, just "SEARS" on the badge and guard. ~Adam

    Fleet Liner?

Easiest way to ID most pre-'58 Murray frames is the unique collared frame tube connection @ the seat post, there are a few good pics of that detail in the post "Need help ID'ing this pre-war "Schwinn"..." Stamp on the BB should have codes that tell the year, and whom it was built for. ~Adam

    Crank ID ????

As far as I know, '50s Schwinn cranks aren't dated at all. I believe they started date stamping then again in '61. -Adam

    Rollfast Hotrod before and after.

1963 was the first year for that chain guard, and metal head badges were phased out in the late '60s. -Adam

    Prewar???

    I'd say Shelby. -Adam

Help with value of 1966 Stingray

I'd think at least $300, but I'm not an expert on these either. -Adam
  16. Rustinkerer

Can anybody help ID this bike?

Fleet Wing was a store brand, don't know which, probably a more obscure chain. Dating back to late 30's, and not usually associated with Murray. By the mid '60s, they were selling mostly import bikes. -Adam
  17. Rustinkerer

    What year?

That chain guard was only used the first 2 FL model years, 1958-9. -Adam

Wards Hawthorne(CWC)...Can't figure out year of make.

No, but I've heard there will be a book coming out at some point. -Adam

    Prewar Elgin date/ID

Drum brake wheel is later. Fork, not sure, but the "rain gutter" fender is period, if not original. -adam

Wards Hawthorne(CWC)...Can't figure out year of make.

'47, at the beginning of the "Cw" series, through '49. 1948-9 Hawthornes had an aluminum head badge. "ACw"series, 1950-1, had the brass red and blue M/W 'crest' badge. '52-6 had the two digit year before the Cw. -Adam
