Do the hitch you won't regret it strap on anything is a bad idea especially with heavy bikes. I have a receiver on all my vehicles even the pop up camper just for bikes. Besides with that small bed you're going to need a trailer:grin:

Whitefiretiger I'v noticed that some of the steerer tubes have a smaller I.D. Towards the bottom you may have reached this spot on that fork. It looks like about 2 1/2" cut off. the old stems are pretty short and couldn't really go in too far so they didn't have the thin part of the tube go down...

I have used a short piece of 3/8" x 1/8" flat steel with 2 holes drilled at the ends when I needed an extension .......dry fitting the parts before I welded the loop on would have been a better solution for me though :blush:
