    Motorcycle-style headlight, anyone?

You can pick up 48 volt dc to 12 volt dc converters that are small and cheap. I like running 12 volt bulbs better just because they are easier to find if one goes bad.

Any (west) Texas old bike swap meets or klunker rides coming up this spring? (2023)

Now that spring is upon us... I thought I'd refresh the post.

Any (west) Texas old bike swap meets or klunker rides coming up this spring? (2023)

Title says almost everything. I'd like to find a few old-bike reasons to get out of Lubbock in the next few months. Preferably west of I-35. Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico would be fine too. Thanks!

    Motorcycle-style headlight, anyone?

I saw that @axemann88 mentioned 1977mopeds.com. Another great moped parts source is treatland.tv in California. They always have some cool headlight assemblies and many of the speedos that go with them. While you're there, check out forks, handlebars, and 16" tires (that fit on wide 20"...

    What I'm riding lately

Your bike is sweet! When I was a kid I rode a Red Line and loved it. These days it's all Huffys and Schwinns (and I love riding them too!)

Show your Ind_Chuckz Workman/Heavy duty build!

I took the HD out for a ride last night - I love how this bike rides more than most anything. I may need another one to build...

    SOLD New! Sturmey Archer XRD

It's a great way to put a non-coaster rear brake on a vintage frame or a Worksman frame. The brake is similar to a motorcycle brake. This one looks like it'll take a 7-speed freewheel. Not a bad price with shipping thrown in. Most cost $75ish + $25 shipping.

    What's your "go-to" bike?

Only the camera sustained damage - and it was all cosmetic. I get chased often but it's rare for a dog to make contact. Mr. Yellow ran away immediately, and I finished the ride without any real grief.

    Gearing Question

@1OldGI , You inspired me to finish up a blog post I started a while back where I worked out the gearing on another old Huffy. I hope it helps. https://2wheelsmaybe.blogspot.com/2021/12/2-wheeled-joy-parts-bin-bike-build-part.html

I'm excited to learn about the silver one. Thanks! One more tip - be careful with the overspray. It travels far and it's a booger to get off.

KCI is right on the money with the acid etching primer. It lays down very nicely and has a nice matte finish. I pictured it with my favorite black paint for things like rims and handlebars. The appliance epoxy does great on bare metal and on sanded and clean old paint. It's a semigloss that...

DFW People - Any recommendations for a good klunker/mtb trail in south Fort Worth?

Thanks for your input, Oak Tree! I've been doing some looking and the Gateway trails west of the Trinity look like a great place to start. I was hoping for a place a little further south, but after five hours of driving to get to Fort Worth, I sure can't complain about driving a few more miles...

Thanks for the tip. I will check them out!

DFW People - Any recommendations for a good klunker/mtb trail in south Fort Worth?

I'll be staying southwest of I-20 and 35W and hope to sneak in a few quick rides. I'm looking for a few hills and a few jumps that won't kill a heavy guy on a heavy, no-suspension bike. Please let know if there's anything like that in the area.. Thanks in advance!

I require a lot of food to keep me pedaling through this suburban jungle! I'm still working out the wheel/tire plan. I've been looking at 24X3, 26x2.5, or 18x2.75 moped tires on 22" rims. With my current budget, the 26" rims are the current frontrunners.

Wanting to build pseudo-cargo pseudo-klunker to haul groceries and trail-building tools. So far I have a Nel Lusso frame, a 3-speed Nexus hub, and some green primer. Excited to get this one going! Good-ish bones! I really liked the green primer from my last build-off bike. I'm hoping for...
