    Big guy bike

Yeah, I saw that one too. The one that was in my price range was the Firmstrong Chief. Offered in a 3spd & a "pedal-forward" design. Very comfortable to ride. Just that plain frame. Not to mention made in China & very cheap looking components & chrome. It does however get pretty good...

    Big guy bike

Ok. Did what I should have done in the first place & ran a search. I think I'm gonna try to fab one up. Either using an old crank like other members have done here, or just getting some thick walled pipe bent up.

    Big guy bike

I actually checked out the Simple bike by Giant at a local bike shop. I was very close to getting that or one by American Flyer. Both large framed & I believe aluminum. I really wanted something with a vintage-type frame w/fenders,so I passed. The layed back seat post is a great idea. Are they...

    Big guy bike

Don't worry! We love all you little guys too. I don't! They get to ride anything they want and look cool. I look like I'm riding a clown bike most of the time :x

    Big guy bike

It's hard being a big guy at 6'4" and not looking strange on most bikes. I'd like to find an older bike to build a real "rat" with or even just keep it original. I'm just not sure what to look for. I don't know what's out there that would fit me well. I haven't been able to actually ride an...

    Sears women's bike...

Picked this up this past weekend for $80. I'm new to vintage bikes, so I'm not even sure it was a good deal. It's in pretty good condition, all original (I think) including paint & tires (Sears on sidewalls). Even the light works, just has a busted lense. After a bit of research, it seems to be a...

    How To: Straighten sheetmetal

Very informative. I have never been good at bodywork, but I think I may give it a go using this thread as a guide. Got a couple dents in my fenders that need some attention...

    Skiptooth Conversion

Hey all. I did a bit of searching, but didn't come up with much. I'm thinking of converting my new project bike over to a skiptooth system. I have found the Shimano rear conversion sprocket on the Bay. I have seen old crank sprockets being sold by fellow members here. Now, my only missing piece...

    Western Flyer?

Thinking of picking up this Western Flyer for my girl. Looks to be in pretty good shape, but not sure if its work getting. Anyone have any info on what year this is & what it may be worth? Seller asking $150. Thanks guys!

    Rat Del Sol build

Brought the frame to work with me today since it's been slow. Planning to smooth out the welds a bit before sending it out ot be media blasted. Thinking of fabbing up a home made jockey shifter for the 3spd. I love the gears, but dig the clean look of a single speed handlebar. Guess I gotta...

    Rat Del Sol build

I know what you mean. I looked at several bikes that might fit my stature & I just so happened to find this on CL. I love the top tube & the way the seat stays are low & swooping. I think the gussets add a little something too.

    New guy from L.A.

Thanks for the welcome! Here's a link to the build thread. It will take time as I have 4 old Fords & a cafe racer on my to-do list at the moment. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=53248

    Rat Del Sol build

Just found this site after searching for info on a Del Sol Shore Liner I picked up this weekend. This will be my first "mild" custom bicyle. I'm hoping to get some good ideas here. A LOT of very nice rides here. It's an aluminum stretched cruiser type frame, factory springer front end,full...

    New guy from L.A.

Hello members. I just registered today as soon as I found this great forum. I am new to customizing bikes, but not new to Rat Rods. I have a few 60's Ford projects, including a mild custom '64 Fairlane Sports Coupe. Low gloss black, cream pearl top, frenched in '64 Galaxie tail lights, shaved door...
