    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

Though it appears I would need the Brooks B66, as it has the clamp that will attach it to a plain, pipe type, seat post.

    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

Thanks for the links. I am looking closely at the B67 in black, though I love the aged tan one. This bike will be used primarily on the main trails of nearby First Landing State Park, to run our crazy & fast Boykin Spaniel, and as a typical beach cruiser. The dog is the reason that the...

    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

Was going to go with a Thompson in black but not sure when those will be available. You have some saddle knowledge, what would you suggest? I probably do need one w/ springs.

Finally got my wife's Worksman the way "she" wants it: It is fully loaded with a sealed bottom bracket, self-lighting pedals, alloy rims/SS spokes, Wald 33WR handmade in Kentucky quick release basket, & Troxel saddle.

    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

They were definitely a lucky score. I have two other solid bars that are 3" wider & have much more rise, but these are perfect on this bike. I have a temporary seat on and the riding position is so comfortable.

    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

They are solid aluminum similar to the Inter-Am bars I have on other bikes. I got them used on eBay, I think they are pretty old.

    "Sparky" - Early '80s Worksman (Re)Build

Picked up "Sparky" on Craigslist last Fall as it had the frame & fork I like & the price was right. Pretty sad condition when I brought it home: Stripped F&F down & threw everything else in a bowl of kerosene to soak a while. Had a friend run it through a media blasting and it cleaned up...

I set up a free account on photobucket, & I copy/paste the IMG link of a photo right into the body of my posts. There are 4 ways to share photos there (to the right of an uploaded photo) by copying & pasting links. Super easy (& free) once you have it down.

Sorry to hear of your experience. In 2009 or 10 I ordered a new bike from them. It had some scratches from shipping and I had to remount the tires, but nothing like you experienced. PM me your address and I will send you one of my old school headbadge decals to finish it off, on the house.

    Worksman Cruiser Year Please

Like that bike! Don't fret over Japanese forks though. I have found that the 2 most common Worksman forks from the '80s era are stamped either "Akisu Japan" (the "crown" curved fork) or "Tange Japan" (the straight tube BMX fork), the latter being my favorites. I bet that those were your...

    Worksman Cruiser Year Please

Nice bike! Worksman serial numbers are all over the place, absolutely no rhyme or reason to 'em. No one at Worksman will be of any help either. If the bike is fairly unmolested, often the stamp on the steerer tube (between the top threads and the bottom bearing race) of the fork is the best...

For some reason the top nut bottomed out & I used it as a spacer. I've since replaced it with a thick washer. Thanks, so does your white one. Custom seat/chainstays?

Those Tange BMX style tube forks are stamped right above the lower bearing race. Of course you have to take them off the frame to see it. These said "Tange 1C Japan" which I am told the 1C means they were made in 1981, the 3rd month (March). The guy I bought the frame from said he bought it...
