    Show us your Vintage Raleighs!

My '72 is green. I ride that one regularly, in fact I just got in from a 25 mile club ride on it. This one, I'll fix it eventually I expect. What I meant was more which direction I'd take it - single speed? Cross? Restore? There are a lot of choices...

    Show us your Vintage Raleighs!

This mid-70s Grand Prix recently fell into my lap. A friend that works at a LBS said a customer brought it in, but didn't want to spend the money needed to fix it and left it behind. So, he (my friend) brought it to me. It needs a front derailer to be operable, and a fork to be right. The...

Kustom Coaster III - Finished W/ Photos

That's slick. I like the copper work. What panniers are those?

    A 3-Star Delusion

Thanks. There were certainly a lot of people looking at it all evening and taking pictures. Well, maybe they were more interested in the Colson, I don't know. When I rode it out at dusk and flipped on the lights, people seemed surprised that they worked. I heard "hey, look at that" in the...

lets see those old school / custom shifters.

Well, the shifter turns rotary movement of the level into linear movement of a cable. The "piece that comes off the side of the hub" is the bellcrank mechanism that translates that cable movement into the plunge required to slide the gear engagement back and forth. If you think about what the...

    A 3-Star Delusion

Thanks guys. A lot of folks comment on the big tires or the fin/light. I brought the bike (and my '38 Colson) out to a local cruise night yesterday. The bikes drew a fair amount of attention, relatively speaking.

3-Star Delusion - finally an actual ride...

Re: 3-Star Delusion - cruise night I took the 3-Star and my '38 Colson-Firestone to a popular local cruise night yesterday after work. These pictures were taken early, before it filled in. As the evening went on, the place got really busy with people, cars and motorcycles everywhere. The...

    Firewing 1953 Columbia 3 Star DeLuxe (2nd) - 3/15 TRADED

Re: FireWing 53Columbia 7/30 Da Debil is in the Details Maybe next year you need to build BeerRun 2.0, which uses a mini keg as a frame tank. Then you don't have a carry a beer, just remember to fill the bike before heading out...

    Firewing 1953 Columbia 3 Star DeLuxe (2nd) - 3/15 TRADED

Re: FireWing 53Columbia 7/30 Da Debil is in the Details I've seen them on rat rods, but never really saw the appeal. However, you see so many unique things on rat rods (I saw an old Electrolux being used as a hood scoop once) that it's hard to define what's there, what it really is and isn't...

3-Star Delusion - finally an actual ride...

Re: 3-Star Delusion - "everything works" edition Well, I guess either way, things will be what they be. It will be interesting to watch regardless. I found where had stashed my pair of black RRB stickers. So, I applied them appropriately, I think: I think the black looks good on the...

    A 3-Star Delusion

Thanks! I brought the bike with me to work today, here are a couple shots sitting in the machine shop: I took these literally as I was just walking by. I'll see if I can get better ones later on.

    Firewing 1953 Columbia 3 Star DeLuxe (2nd) - 3/15 TRADED

Re: FireWing 53Columbia 7/30 Da Debil is in the Details Agreed. I'm not sure that the tail really fit the bike at all - though I'd struggle to come up with a situation that they would work. I guess I never "got" the whole .... tail thing.

""RAD ROT"" Aug 1-Calling it a DONE DEAL!! pics added

Re: ""RAD ROT"" Update 30 July-Lighting configuration change I'll take your word for it. The fork legs do look bent back in a number of different photos, from different angles, including one that's nearly directly from the side...

Re: 3-Star Delusion - "everything works" edition Vell, vee shall see, ja? Digression time - I've wondered about that some in the past - how much of the voting is the build and how much is simply exposure? There are sometimes well-built bikes that have relatively fewer views and voting...

Re: ""RAD ROT"" Update 30 July-Lighting configuration change trailer hitch? This bike is pretty cool overall, but why are you using such a bent fork?

    A 3-Star Delusion

Thanks guys! Those fat, low pressure tires certainly give a cushy ride - I kept looking back to see if the rear had gone flat! The Berm Master tread pattern is also pretty loud, like an off-road truck tire. Between that and the speedo whir, I doubt I really need the bell...

Re: 3-Star Delusion - "everything works" edition Hmm, not sure how to take that. The big difference, of course, is that I don't have handlebar streamers...

Re: FireWing 53Columbia7/28 MO DONE - Roller Again - PIC HEAVIER I'd take you up on that, but I'd probably have plan to order the stickers for you now. But I looked in the store section and didn't see a new one...
