(ORBO) Dead Metal - Video Montage

You have the kickback mounted? If so, it looks like your chain is too tight. How does it work? Gary

GIRL BIKES: NOT JUST FOR PARTS ANYMORE

I've sent more girls frames to the salvage yard than you can imagine. This may be a better option. Have to admit, pretty cool. Gary

    20" Phantom ??

I have pics of 3 20" Phantoms. No idea if Schwinn ever made these or if these are just made up. If any of the 3 are original, I'd say it's the second one. The red paint has faded to the correct orange color if that means anything. Gary

(ORBO) Dead Metal - Video Montage

Your hub is finished @ GuitarCarl. It will be in the mail this week. Works fine. Just to show you how nice this hub is, the one on the left is yours, the one on the right is NOS. (with 50 yrs. of shop wear, of course) Your hub is just as nice on the inside. No issues. On the lower right is...

    Antique cast iron boiler!

Love that old cast iron. I just bought a railroad caboose pot belly stove. Wire wheeled it and new hi temp paint. Can't wait to start burning some wood in my new man cave. Gary

I was alive when Bowie was in his prime and we avoided him like he had the plague. 70's homophobia I guess. Gary

    Autocycle

Well, it's only 2 weeks into the new year but I will call your Autocycle the "score of the year"...so far anyway. It is the Holy Grail! How about some outdoor pics with full side view for my files? If I can't own it I'd at least like to have a good pic or two of it to drool on. Gary

    Re-chroming Bike Wheels

Knurling...that's the little row of lines that run where the spoke holes are drilled on Schwinn rims. The knurling is put there when the steel is pulled through the dies to form the rim. It's like a gear that gets a grip on the steel and imprints on the rim. S7 rims have one row of knurling...

    '50 Panther 2 serial numbers?

Sometimes bikes were used in factories and they had to have an inventory number. Not that uncommon. Gary

    Re-chroming Bike Wheels

When Proctor does Schwinn rims they polish them and the knurling disappears. Then, they have a way to put the knurling back on like it was. I was pretty impressed by their work. Gary

    Re-chroming Bike Wheels

I've used Proctor myself and they are great. Chrome is not cheap anywhere so be prepared. Gary
