This convo is very much of interest to me because I have family in and have spent a goodly amount of time in both Ishpeming MI and Mesa CO.
Also, while I have never owned a PRC-47, I have done quite a bit of man-portable HF with other rigs. Including operating from both of those areas.

I've been looking at some of the motors that just have a mounting flange and a toothed sprocket, and use a separate controller. They're cheaper than hub motors and mid drives, and more flexible. They do require a bit of ingenuity to set up, but I like to tinker anyway.
Thing about this theft is that it occurred a dozen years ago. I figure the chances are at least 50/50 that the guy who has it now doesn't even know it was stolen. He didn't look like one of the meth heads who live in this area and steal anything they can get their hands on.
