Spot welding is what we should have done on those panels but without ripping everything apart wasn't going to happen so small plug welds were done.

So I've got a funny update... I took the bike part way apart and put it in the tub earlier and soaked it down in my home concoction cleaner/degreaser and was going to let it set 15 minutes then rinse off. Well I forgot to rinse it off before leaving and well it stripped a lot of the flat black...

The spaceliner had 2 different guards. The one like I'm using (easier to find) and the one above. Not sure what year or whatever they changed. I'd rather have the other one too but I'm using what I have.

Been playing with moving the bad wold lettering to the down tube depending what chain guard I end up with.

I'm not worried about the spacing between sissy bar & post as that's an easy fix like you said but it needs to be long enough to fill the space without looking silly. If I can find a skate board I'll see about making my own.

I was thinking something more close to the size of the frame like those under the bed storage totes or even just rigging some boards up and lining it with plastic sheeting to keep from needing as much vinegar (the cheap stuff is around $2.50/gal)
