It is really surprising how much variation there is among what at first glance appear to be more or less identical frames! Add to that the fork variations (height, bend, etc.) and I am really starting to see why some kids bikes were "cooler" than others out of the box! Thanks for this!

Thanks Dr. T and Cap'n A ! I really appreciate the feedback! Part of this idea is that i can unbolt the extension(s) on the fork(s) and try out diff lengths and wheels etc. It is sometimes hard to dial that stuff in when I am building freehand

Yeah for sure, thread something (the bearing cone)past where you are going to cut, cut (with a grinder), and then back that thready thing off- should be good to go!
