Space Patrol Bike

I have some time, some tools and lot of old bike parts, and also purchased one of the renaissance mans' spaceliner tanks. That will be going on a Hiawatha Asto Flite that has been in my basement for a couple of decades. The plan is to gussy it up into a cruiser that could plausibly come off a...

Anyone else planning for BOTEN (RRBBO#10) yet?

I have found myself in a museum of my life 20 years ago- And fortunately have a lot of bike krappe there. I will be entering this build, even if I have to ship a half completed carcass 2000 miles west to finish the darn thing!

NEW STUFF AT WAL-MART (Op Bike PICS ADDED)

I did buy one of the Columbias- badly assembled, greased with dots of vaseline, handlebars, pedals and stem seemed pretty flimsy. Wheels were true But the sheet metal was relatively heavy gauge and the frame seems solid. Best of all, the decals are easy to peel off stickers. I agree- a good...

    Nishiki

They are a high quality Japanese bicycle, and that is a nice tall lugged frame so probably some vintage roadie/ retro grouch would want it. What components are on it now?

Let's see your Pashley Guv'nor style bikes!

It is! I am still kind of reluctant to use inline images because a lot of people still have slow connections. With the slack geometry it is a very nice bike to ride and is my alternate commuter. A bonus feature of the 1930s-10940s Sturmey Archer AW hubs is they use a threaded cog on the...

Let's see your Pashley Guv'nor style bikes!

A 1938 Gazelle "safety roadster" with SOMA Lauterwasser bars and partial cable brakes. I need to replace the brake levers with more roady style ones since I am always riding at full reach http://s53.photobucket.com/user/gormanao/media/1938%20Raleigh%20Gazelle/boyracer.jpg.html [/IMG]

Wrap around or street sweeper rear fenders...

Thornproof tubes and Mister Tuffy will intercept most of your potential flats. If you run over a box nail you are just going to have to take the fender off, so plan ahead! Maybe a wing nut on the brake bridge?

Rat Rod Bikes in the UK: 1940s - 50s

Again, a very cool article. I noticed that some of the bikes had truss rods and US looking handlebars, or those could be motorcycle style handlebars like on early mountain bikes? Very interesting!

    Greets!

I had a hard time registering here- normally on boards I go by pebbleworm, but due to a hiccup here I am pebblewurm, and go by my real name at the CABE. I am more into very early bikes, but a stylish custom will always catch my eye and as a long term dumpster diver this looks like a great place...

cheapie wal mart stem keeps coming loose with my mx bars any ideas?

Cut a shim from a piece of beer can, wrap it around the contact area and tighten the heck out of the 4 allen screws. Use LocTite if you have some. Take a look at the screws and threads in the stem to see if they are messed up- new and better quality screws could solve the problem.
