Question for you wheel build experts...

OK attempted my first foray into the mystical black magic realm of wheel building, a New Departure "D" coaster brake hub, drop center rim (all 36 hole, rim 26"). The wheel was broken down with 40+% of the spokes either seized, bent, or rusted beyond wanting to keep. Now I measured the spokes, 10...

    Army Build

JMHO, would have been cool to keep the OD color with the tank, still keeping the white graphics of course. This is kind'a what I was planning, just an Army themed build. Next thing I know I'm accumulating all the correct period pieces, so I decided on a G519 quasi clone.

Schwinn tank bike out of spare parts.

Oh come on, that's just not right... spare parts laying around?!;) I need a bigger parts box! Turning out super nice! How'd you do the frame transitional graphics, your own masking effort or pre cut stencils? The tank turned out awesome!

    Left Koast Kruiser

Digging the current component line up... Ashtabula crank and stem!? NICE!

New guys... Post Winter build???Le Fini!!!

Well thanks guys! Not really sure how this resurfaced:confused:, I think JimK came over from a link on the CABE (There is an over the top BTR going on over there!). But since it back, I'm in the process of revisiting the Ol' Chief and scraping that repro springer with an actual truss fork, I'll...

    3 Piece Crank

"Thanks for putting up the link to the other thread, Mike! I didn't wanna have to type all of that again!" Well I figured everything was already thoroughly covered over on that thread... I wasn't about to type it all again either!:21:

    3 Piece Crank

This thread will/should answer all your questions, Rob did a heck of a job talking me through the whole process: http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/3-piece-crankset-on-cruiser-frame.86047/ The cruiser frame in question was also a Worksman INB.

    3 Piece Crank

Yeah! I get to beat Rob for a comment... in his defense he pretty much spoon fed me through my conversion (No not to Scientology!) to a 3 pc. Yes you can, and it was surprisingly simple... For the bottom bracket you'll need an American sized, which will replace the existing bearing cups...

Schwinn Sanctuary 7 Change it? Leave it alone?

OUCH! I was just on the computer and remembered to check out Woody's Fenders! The fenders probably cost just a hair less than the whole bike! They still look cool though!

From rusty dust to Shiny ROSS *Slow-Mo For the Bro*

I like that MOPAR dark green and probably would have suggested it... if I hadn't just seen it in "Show your Ind ChuckZ" thread. That's why I leaned in the pea green direction... that's probably gonna be too light of a color though. However, I gotta admit that Rootbeer in a metallic would pretty...

    Half Penny (Penny "Freakthing" Fakething)

This might sound weird (Living in coastal FL with no hills), but you know what the first thing that came to mind with those 19mm wrench steps? A really cool rear set pegs for a gravity racer!

From rusty dust to Shiny ROSS *Slow-Mo For the Bro*

I say beat him into submission for truss fork #5;)... that just has such a cool flow of the lines with that frame and totally unique. How about a pea green:D (actually more like this one:android:) for the frame, go pretty well with the brown and beige that's already there?

Workman frame build possibilty... Now "Workman RS"! All but Fini!

The bars are a GT set I picked up a the local BMX shop, and the stem's a 1996 Schwinn BMX ebay find.

    Speedster Muscle.

Potential quote from the cop that pulls you over on that... "That's a pretty elegant seat ya got on that old ratty thing... where'd you steal from kid?":21:

Workman frame build possibilty... Now "Workman RS"! All but Fini!

What once approached the end of it's life in a pile of non descript withering neglected and abandoned heavy weight industrial bike stuff, relegated to some hot Texas backyard (That'd be Ind-ChuckZ's house)... ... then resurrected from what was sure to be a slow and rust filled deterioration...

    Pre War Schwinn DX

Well it's not that anyone is anti-tank, it just seems a shame to cover up any of that transitional graphic. Seen that other Schwinn graphic all over the place, just don't see that feather graphic all that much! I'd say yea to a tank if you found one with the same corresponding graphic but not...

    Pre War Schwinn DX

Well so far you're not in the minority opinion. Nix the tank idea, seems to be the majority opinion! I might be up for a very fine wet sand and re clear coat though... just to help preserve the OG graphics for a bit longer.

Schwinn Sanctuary 7 Change it? Leave it alone?

Those fenders do in fact look pretty cool... lose the seat! Old Brooks B67 (or knock off), the springer model, in honey brown w/ matching leather lock on grips... Yeah, that's the ticket!;)

Show your Ind_Chuckz Workman/Heavy duty build!
