Success and no scratches! Just kept my finger over the spoke tips as suggested. It was too cold to spend much time in the shed ... stayed long enough to harvest the sachs 3 speed coaster hub to take inside and build into the new wheel. Had to buy a wheel at the recycling centre today to harvest...

Love the 'shifter reduction' concept! It does look like a lot of work... I know just the patterning takes a lot of time... it's crazy how much time there is in something that will be hidden. But totally worth it :) ... I see a new product line in your future

I like the rack, but you'll know for sure once the fenders and wheels are on. That tank looks great there - it's a nice fit!

Racks on bikes are always so handy for me... with the boards on these builds you get the bonus of the cool factor - plus they really look like they're part of the design rather than added later :)

I love both frames. mac'n'cheese from this forum has a fire arrow frame and forks for sale at the moment. I was looking at images of fire bolts and fire arrows a couple of days ago and saw one where the owner had fitted a fire arrow half tank into a fire bolt frame. Looked really cool :)

I've used it too, it does look really good over both a shiny base, and also looks great over the top of other colours. I think someone last build-off did a stretched build with red metalcast over brown

Thanks Donnie, I ended up buying the long skinny lettering, they arrived during the week and they're going to fit the tank really well. The other styles were a bit too big to look good on a tank. I set a goal to advertise 1 bike a week to sell stuff I don't ride, but this means time wrenching...

Interesting, that's different to the usual 3 speed with 'normal' being the middle or second gear. I don't know anything about the very early hubs though - where did you come across the shifter? In any case, it should hopefully work with your hub. With the quadrant shifters it's easy to set up...

Quadrant shifters are way cool... I have one on a Raleigh. Yours looks to be a really early model? I've never seen one but they did make a 2 speed quadrant shifter. For the 3 speed versions there is no indent for 3rd - for 3rd gear the cable is at it's slackest in the most forward position, with...
