Another Heavy Duti build... Headbadge mounted

I've collected a few parts from Danscomp... I have a set of double walled DH39 wheels that I'm going to use... Except that the rear wheel contains a dreaded histop hub, that must be removed... Just need to decide if I should go with the bendix or a shimano e110...

Another Heavy Duti build... Headbadge mounted

Took it over to a friend's house, and we un brazed the eyelets from the seat stays, with an oxy acetylene torch... These eyelets... I'm guessing they're for a rear rack? Here it is with them removed: After they were removed, I filed the brass off...

Another Heavy Duti build... Headbadge mounted

I guess it'll be a klunker, but depending on the tires, it could be a bmx-ish cruiser...

Another Heavy Duti build... Headbadge mounted

I bought a couple of frames from ind-chuckz (thanks Chuck!) So I thought I would start a build thread... I had a '46ish Schwinn DX klunker that I was riding for the last several years, but my wife kind of took it as her own, so I thought I'd put another bike together for myself... Started...

Love the bendix! What is the gear ratio? With that small front sprocket, do you spin out too soon? oct

    KT Hubs - Any Good?

The Hi-stops I've had, have either made a buzzing sound while coasting, or made a hideous screeching sound when the brake was applied. I would try to avoid the hi-stops. I bought a shimano e-110 and wired it into a 700c wheel... Those hubs can usually be had for less than $30. Those seem like...

    Lurking...

I was just looking at your blog the other day locojoe! Your beast has peaked my interest... Seems like a fun bike to tinker on and ride. I have one in my online cart, but not sure how my wife would react when it arrived, so I haven't followed through.....yet:)

    i know why you're crying...

I know why you're crying... Because I resurrected this thread!;) The 7 year itch... I found this 20" rollfast back in August of '07. Almost 7 years ago.., 3 months before my daughter was born. I hung it on a hook in the shed, and that's where it stayed. Fast forward to November 2013 I...

Wow... Steve, I just looked at that thread! Good for Ricky. It's funny how even he admits he doesn't know how anyone tolerated him! I'm glad to see he turned out ok... I want to stick around. I never mean to disappear. It's just really easy to become distracted and we get busy, short...

Hey guys, I've been lurking around here a little bit lately... I used to be a regular here waaay back... (Back when I was your age... I remember build off number one!) Some of you may remember me...;) I think I was lurking around, about this time last year, then I messed up my knee and all...

    I've been inspired

you would be surprised at what can be done with just a welder and an angle grinder... i don't have a notcher or a bender... occasionally i use a chopsaw with a metal cutting blade, but it's not necessary. i used to bend tubing in the crotch of a tree, now i bend it over a plywood disc.

    3 cross lacing

Congratulations on lacing your first wheel! I think it seems scarier that it actually is. I am always apprehensive until I get into it. The one thing I'm always worried about is the spoke tension. I'm always afraid they're either too tight or too loose... I used the sheldon brown tutorial...

KT Hi-Stop Coaster Brake, Help Please.

I've had two hi stop hubs, they worked fine except they would screeech like a banshee when the brakes were applied... I haven't heard any good reports about hi stops... oct

    seat covering... mini-tutorial

That's funny that you bumped this thread... I posted it almost 6 years ago to the week! The other thing is, I still have this seat, and is still holding up after all this time! I hope this thread continues to be useful... october

    Street cruiser...

Yes, I got the fork from niagara... My 700c x 23 tires fit in the fork, but the 35 delta cruisers have a much taller profile.
