Matti goes shopping. New bike phobia

IMO I think you could get it for less then $600. Is everything working on it? Is it the right size?

Where in Canada are you? Look on Pinkbike as well if you aren't already.

Matti goes shopping. New bike phobia

I think the issue is with 27.5, they don't offer the roll over of 29s and the new generation of 29s have fixed the wagon wheel complaints of old. So increasing they are seen as freeride and more trick oriented bikes (like the 50:01 guys) bikes and bikes for shorter people. 26 is going no where...

I'll be honest it sure seems like 27.5 is dying. 29 is where everything is going anymore.

How much are you wanting to spend? Here is the geometry of the Nunu. http://www.classickona.com/oldgold/2k3/2k3_nunu.cfm I don't think at 5'9" you would want anything described as XL.

So Greased Lightning/ Oven cleaner did absolutely nothing to the finish on those Deore cranks so sanding them down it is.

Gravel Grinder Green Motobike 1930 Tribute Bike

Both kinds of trails are fun. I hope one doesn't disappear to the other. Variety is the spice of life. I wish we had a few more flow trails locally. Most of ours are tech trails which I enjoy but it would nice to have a change up.

    The Rock Rat

Do you have other mountain bikes or this the main one? To me that would kind of decide what to do with it. I'd lean towards 1 or 3. The dropbar idea isn't bad either. I'd image you are going to want a taller stem though and you are going to probably end up using bar end shifters.

Bunch of parts on the way, some used Mavic wheels, XT v-brakes and Tektro RL520. New high rise stem, Maxxis freeride tubes, DMR Moto Digger 26x2.35 tires, Selcof cork tape, On One Midge bars and rear 16t gear, Selle Italia Turbo 1980 saddle and Planet X S/S bottle cage. Just need to order...

Ok sounds good. If all else fails, I'll just grab my dremel. I have used oven cleaner to remove paint from aluminum wheels before.

So the serial number on the BB is F051722 and one the head badge is 1830. Where can I find the information to link this to year?

26 MTB to gravel bike conversion to town bike

What is the best way to remove black anodizing from a set of cranks? I got a set of Shimano Deore cranks for cheap but some of the coating is rubbed off. I am just going to raw them. Does oven cleaner work or is that just with paint on aluminum? Also what length of spindle should I choose? I am...

26 MTB to gravel bike conversion to town bike

So my wife has recently taken a liking to riding but she is only really interested in gravel and greenways and the like. Neither of my two bikes are really ideal for this kind of riding. A low long and slack 150mm travel (1275mm wheelbase with a 64deg head angle) Ragley Big Wig (which...

I may end up running a Velo Orange Cigne stem to get the bars up high enough.

Yeah. From what I saw the High Plains is a nice frame with mid level components. Not worried about resale at all. It is hobby so if I lose money whatever life goes on.
