Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

That’s fair. The old schooler who loves the classics will hand you his book and says “go to town. Here’s a piece of paper so you can write it down”. In his case, he is open four days a week, all the times during when I work. That makes it tough for me. The other, fancier shop that’s more...

Any experience with said tyre or retailer?

Looked too good to be true, which was why I asked. Reviews on site seemed wonky, as well. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

With axle pegs and number plate. I may not even put a number on it...

Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

I rather would, myself. It is just becoming harder and harder, unfortunately.

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

The side plates are black. I am using silver outline Zeronine numbers on them. I may heat punch out a relief bump for the disc brake caliper on the left plate. It’s low enough that the numbers won’t be affected. The relief probably isn’t needed as it is more for noise than anything. The number...

I call it a “bunnyman institute experiment”.

Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

“What kind of bike is it?” My answer: “It started off as a (name brand), but it now has (mod, parts, etc.) and it’s supposed to be a (type)...”

What have you been riding lately?

As opposed to the fecal matter-tastic bikes. Carp is good fried, but makes terrible sushi.

I just hope nothing happened to my sales dude. He does have health problems. I don’t care about discounts he gave, though they were nice. He treated me like a king, and he was a genuine good guy.

Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

I certainly understand what you’re saying about “expecting” a good guy discount. It’s just I am treated so differently when I don’t see my normal salesman. I never ask for it. It’s just a polar opposite of how I am treated in there. The guy I normally see is nice; the others I see act like I am...

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

I was going to order repros of the old SECCA side number plates, but at $75 USD and a three week wait, I test fit smaller, rectangular plates. They look better. I will show how they will be mounted soon.

Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

That’s what I find that is thoroughly disturbing are people so ignorant that they tell you that you’re wrong about an item you have lived with! I will leave my bike with someone whom I trust, but that is becoming few and far in between. I am thinking I need to get a new truing stand and start...

Rant: why I have trouble supporting the LBS

I have to check that out. I wasn’t feeling all that warm and fuzzy the last few times I was there as I was charged MSRP on stuff and the guy I normally see hasn’t been there in a VERY long time. He usually gets me the good deals. I don’t mind paying full freight on some items, but bulk stuff...

It’s gorgeous. Feels like great quality machine work and smooth as a baby’s bum! Still gutted that I couldn’t get the seat clamp to work Grrrrrr
