Who has made a 1 1/8” steer tube fork work in a 1” head tube?

Just hope my retro Japanese MTB would work. Thank you!

Who has made a 1 1/8” steer tube fork work in a 1” head tube?

If anyone has figured it out, they likely reside here. I have another place to use it if it can’t be done.

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

Let’s rename this the bike from hell. First we have the fork debacle, and now the headset! This is not your standard 45/45 Campy; it is a straight semi integrated IS42, essentially a motorised bicycle headset! Makes sense with all the wonky specs! BikeBerry had one. Snapped it up! Now I have...

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

Scuff-sanded with a red Scotchbrite pad for bed liner sauce. I scuffed out a paint imperfection in the head tube. This had more orange peel than a fruit market:

    Painting clear anodised rims

So, I bought a pair of super cool SE bikes Monster Ripper wheels. Silver was my only colour choice. I am going for a traditional red rim. I bought a paint prep product and a paint/primer product. Would the prep product have any adverse affects on what isn’t going to be painted? I am painting...

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

Well, the fork won’t work. This is a SUPREME bummer. I have a few options with the fork: hang onto it until something else comes along, return it or trade with someone. I have a 26” wheeled bike I could use it on IF I could rig up the head tube to accept a 1 1/8 headset. If anyone knows how I...

    Can you powder coat chrome?

I think I gotta run what I brung: a chrome, triple non-suspension fork. I want durability, not show-stopping looks. It’s settled. Thanks for the input!

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

I always figure it like this: if I hate this bike, the parts themselves are worth more than they are all together. I can recycle stuff. But I have a feeling if I can get a bb to work and a fork I like, this bike should be a blast to ride.

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

I put one pair from my large supply of mint grips onto the expert bars (after installing the brake handle). Hopefully, the fork works! I did see other alternatives in a suspension flavour. I really don’t want the complexity of suspension on here. Just like I ultimately decided against a rear...

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

The bars are NOS GT Expert, and the height is perfect for a monster wheel bike. I found out what the “proprietary” BB was: a 151mm BB; I bought a 148mm ISIS BB; 1.5mm per side of the shell shouldn’t make much of a difference. As I remember, ISIS axles are slightly more low profile than JIS...
