I believe that's a Ben hur , black knight bicycle - made early 60's by western flyer - I could be wrong

From a closer look at the rear wheel and derailer it looks like maybe the derailer was forced over into the spokes while the wheel was turning - it would account for all the spoke and rim damage , and the condition of that derailer - however it happened , must have been a very unpleasant...

i assume i can switch out the forks to get a taller stem ??

anyone have any clue as to why the green one has an extra number in the serial number ? that is wierd .......... what i cam up with was october 1972 when i looked up the serial number - am i wrong ?

there is no chain on the bike - and the rear tire appears to be solid- can someone enlighten me about these ? I've not run into them before - same wheel as regular ? Can be replaced with standard tube- tire set up ?

most accessories say schwinn approved _ also rear tire looks different

picked up another just a few minuites ago ..... serial number on headtube is KH062869 - ladies varsity in campus green - look like was hit by a car , but frame is ok , mostly rear wheel dammage .... pics to follow am i correct in that this is a 1972 bike ?

if the headbadge numbers are the date - they dont jive with the giant serial number on the crank - any clue on the explanation on that ?
