Bottom bracket shell is machined. Only a section to be removed that has to be milled: This is how the bottombracket shell looks in the BRIK bikes (a Dutch brand that sells bikes with shafts). Youtube video link Since the 'open section' of the bottom bracket, especially in the corners...

    Shaft Drive Klunker bike

Little update: I checked the intended dropout width in multiple ways: In my alignment jig and by assembling/adjusting the rear hub. Shimano CB-E110 hub. I also checked the Ratio: 1:2 1x crank turn = 2x wheel turning. Tire clearance is meh. We'll see what we can do with that.

    Electra Ratrod Extended

I went to Michael the crazy coater and he had few colours in stock. Flat black yes, but we chose something different. Bronze was an option.... But with the red n' whitewall wheels I chose this: The colours name is: Canal Green.

"Building a welding JIG first" - design process and thoughts

Update: Via a Dutch bikepacking forum I have found an retired instructor who is willing to give me a class course in brazing. I am currently looking for a workshop where we have enough space to practice. The instructor also has his brazing stuff for sale, so I might end up with a torch aswell...

    Electra Ratrod Extended

Appreciate that, thank you. I have been thinking about fenders. Maybe some Ratrod drillium plate  A speedholed version of the 'Conteq Flat Fender'. Now that you mention the shifter: I left the cable guides on the down tube there on purpose, since the rear wheel has a Nexus 3 hub. I...

    Electra Ratrod Extended

A quick mockup and check before the parts go to the powdercoater. Matte black is just simply awesome. So no bad choice there. If the coater has another colour in stock then I'll go with my gut and choose. Dark red, Army green, Dark blue, Dark brown, are colours I'm open to. I sanded down the...

    Electra Ratrod Extended

I can take the frame, fork and chaincover to the coater next week for a powdercoat. Can't choose all RAL colours, it depends what he has in stock. I also want to re-print these original stickers since I love the style and lettering: What frame colour would be great combined with these...

    Electra Ratrod Extended

Hi guys! I decided to create a separate topic for the final bits and assembly of my Electra Ratrod bike which I decided to lengthen 18 centimetres. This was a great tryout in my new welding JIG that I designed. Topic about the JIG and lengthening the frame here...

"Building a welding JIG first" - design process and thoughts

I haven't checked that tbh. I could do that. I dont expect much distortion, since I removed it from the jig when welding was 80% done. Only the last, 'hard to reach' pieces were left.

"Building a welding JIG first" - design process and thoughts

Started tacking evenly in the JIG. When it was secure, I removed the frame from the JIG for the last bits to weld. Next: Sand the welds a bit, then prepare for a powdercoat. What colour shall I choose for this frame? Matte black is pretty sweet. Dark blue? Feel free to express some ideas...

Update: I'm working on the, seat stays, and when my Electra Ratrod is out of the JIG, I will continue working on this bike. I made a video me talking a little bit. One minute and thirty seconds is very short! Let me know if that is something you'll like to see more of. Instagram me babbling...

    What are you listening to?

Haken - Nightingale. Another great piece by Haken. There tremendous depth in this song and its lyrics. Referring to the story of the 'Emperor and the Nightingale'. Still relevant today.
