    excelsior America bicycle help

Definitely not a Schwinn so this info sounds plausible to me. Gary

1959 Columbia Jet Rider & 1966 Schwinn Panther & others

I've got a Dixie Flyer guard. That's what I was told it was on this forum anyway. $15 plus shipping if you're interested. Gary

    Chip Foose bikes

Good catch. They didn't stay up very late at night designing that bike. It seems nothing is new in this hobby. Gary

Show me your quality spray bomb job

These were done with Krylon. Painted the red DX 20 yrs. ago, StingRay and Phantom about 10 yrs. ago. No fading or rust coming underneath. Krylon is pretty fragile though. Gary

    NEW RRB FACEBOOK "GROUP"

I just don't have time for facebook. Just another diversion. I hope it doesn't negatively effect the forum. Gary

    1973 Schwinn Fastback

Did a '41 Cycle Truck have post war style dropouts? I don't know, maybe they did. Looks post war to me. Any year Cycle Truck is a good though. Gary

    Schwinn Hornet value

Frame has likely been repainted. Should have a red headtube and graphics. I think it would be a Deluxe Hornet if the springer is original. Gary

    Torpedo

The "winged wheel" is pretty common on anything to do with vehicles in Germany, at least in the past. Here is a silver medal and pin given to a railroad retiree with 25 yrs. service. It was issued sometime between 1870 and 1918. The railroad (Reichsbahn) used it a lot. Gary

    Old speedo, need advice

I hooked up a bike speedo to an electric drill with the direction reversed and backed up the odometer to 0. It only had 60 some miles on it so it didn't take long and didn't hurt the needle. Easy to install the cable. Goes between fork and hub. A little bent tab goes into the spokes to turn...

    Prevent Flat Cruiser Tires ?

I was tired of the Honey Locust thorns flattening my riding mower front tires. Took one in to get fixed and the guy had a strip of white nylon (?) about 6" wide and fairly thin. He cut it to shape and put it in the tire, then the tube and reassembled. Never had a flat on that one again...

    Superbe, Hollywood,Camaro,Wasp

Can't see the chain ring very well. Probably just a standard 52T Phantom ring. They made a similar style prewar, and changed to this style in '46. Gary

    Repairing Bent Monark Springer Forks...

I'm thinking that when the crash occurred, it was the neck that bent the steering tube. Bars get forced forward from riders weight and the bottom of the stem gets forced backwards. Am I all wet? Gary

Well that's a new one... (Seized Locknut)

Left hand thread. Maybe that's the problem. Gary

    Repairing Bent Monark Springer Forks...

I'm trying to figure out how that happens. The fork tube is solidly supported at each end when the headset it tight. How the heck can it bend in the middle? Gary

    Monark reproduction tanks

I bought a repop tank from Maple Island Supply a few years ago. I think they still list them. Fit like a glove. http://members.tripod.com/maple_island_sales/tanks.html Here's the repop Monark tank finished. Gary

    Pickin's are getting slim here

I'm usually ten years late when it comes to collectibles. Luckily I got in on the old bike collecting when the pickings were still good in the 80's. I've got enough projects to last a lifetime and a few nice restored bikes. Gary

    Barn finds... Help identifying them?

I like that first frame. Some guy didn't like riding a girlie bike so he added a bar. A man after my own heart. Gary

    Unknown barnfind

I found one like that in a ravine behind an abandoned farm house. Here's my before and after pics. Gary
