At that power level, no of course it's not legal, likely not anywhere in the world. Having the pedals on makes it appear legal if you're not seen doing over 32km/h, you're much less likely to be stopped/questioned. We have way too much real crime here for the police to waste time on the...

Performance review: The controller has a 3-speed switch to (somewhat) limit speed/power. Setting 1 is good for 40km/h, setting 2 about 50km/h and setting 3 seems like 60km/h as I can catch up to cars on hills. I am now officially traffic and no longer another 'road obstacle'.

Dragged it outside to get a look at the progress after building the battery/controller supports in the bottom of the frame. Supports my 180lbs standing in it, so the battery should be safe enough with 3" of ground clearance....right? :tmi:

Ty: Craigslist? Remember I pulled this outta the trash on the side of the road...build away brudda! Luke: I thought I'd posted it before it got lost beneath a pile of other projects, battery builds and a couple of months' of sub-zero weather but couldn't find it. When Photobucket pulled their...

Last bit of CAD mock-up for today. Thinking of going with perforated sheet to add interest. There will be another piece covering the battery/electrical bay held down with rivnuts set into the perimeter frame.

Thought I posted on this build before but now that I have some updates I see there's no thread. This is my lowered/stretched Gio scooter project which started out as a road side find on Recycle/Reuse Day. As you can see it's been lowered and stretched about 6". I just completed building a 72v...

    Ruckus inspired E-scooter build

Here's the pedal lock I made mostly out of scraps from my tool box junk drawer. Now I'll have somewhere secure to put my feet without having to add an extra set of foot pegs. It's the small things that keep the project moving forward...

    Ruckus inspired E-scooter build

Toro: The curvy cranks were both cut up to make the straight arms. What would you like to see/know? They are the standard ones that come on cheap Gio scooters. They are intended to be held on the pedal shaft by a spring loaded ball with no bolts.

    Ruckus inspired E-scooter build

The curvy cranks were originally needed to clear the plastic body work. I thought it cleaner looking if I tucked them in closer to the frame using straight arms which I had to make myself. You can now put both cranks on facing forward to act as foot peddles. I will make a spindle lock...

    Ruckus inspired E-scooter build

Luke: I have replaced the original motor for a Golden Motor unit which I have pumped 3000 watts + through repeatedly. I have a couple of 48v lithium packs I'll likely use to get it working, then may build a 72v pack and run an 80 amp controller. It currently has a factory drum brake on the...

Inspiration! I've seen lots of these modified scooters while travelling in Asia, I decided to try building an electric commuter along the same style beginning with a discarded, road side find. Original scooter before mods Bare bones Lowered the front this much by sectioning the...

    Leather spring saddle question

I came across a good local deal on one of these large spring saddles originally sold by Ridable Replicas for a project I'm planning. I've never owned a leather seat before but have always read about them needing a long break in period before being comfortable. I find when I sit on this one the...

No problem Fruttolo, forums are the perfect place to ask question of those that have already done something you're thinking about and the best way to eliminate costly mistakes. I will quote prices in Canadian dollars but basicly in USD subtract 25%. If you run 48 volt you will only get 54km/h...

    Electric MTB build

I've posted some build info in this thread. Took if out for it's first real off-road test today, very successful, I'm looking forward to it's upcoming 72 volt battery transplant. This thing is fun x3, nearly silent and only 90lbs.
