I was looking through the builds and it looks like outskirtscustoms is doing something similar too with his "Krunk Junk" build. Great minds think alike.

I thought that it was a gear driven alternator, but it looks like it had a belt driven alternator down low on the driver's side. The black cylinder has a big wire to it, kinda like a starter motor. Is it an electric driven supercharger? I don't know what it is, but it was cool and I should...

It is too dry at my house to just leave it outside and let nature do all of the work. I did an internet search and found an easy way to rust metal quickly with just a couple household chemicals. Here's an action video. It's pretty cool to see how fast it works...

Thanks man, and I really like your build. The bolt on tank is amazing and your drop-out extenders with the traction bars turned out great.

I went into town this afternoon to do some shopping and have a lunch date with my wife. I spent too much time thinking about my bike and how it was going to turn out. Anyways, I got home and everything was nice and dry. Everything was dry, so I removed all of the masking tape and stickers...

I got up early this morning and I started working on my patina. I think that I'm pretty happy with the results so far. We'll see if I'm still happy later today.

Like I mentioned in my first post, I was planning on doing this build for last year's build off. The kitchen remodel got in the way, so I put the project off until this year. I bought some official Ratrodbikes.com stickers to use last year. Well, shortly after I purchased them, they came out...

Okay, enough photos of other people's work, I finally have some progress pictures. I've been working on the layout for my graphics. It seemed like it was going to be easy, and I really struggled with it. I wasn't looking forward to masking, but it turned out much easier and better than I...

Here are some pictures from last year's Rat Fink Reunion. I went to the steak dinner at the house after the car show and I got to see the museum. Cool diesel powered Tote Gote. There were some big $$$ rat rods there. I'm not a Ford fan, but I love the flat heads. The S.S. Bonneville...

So, I'm behind on my bike and I should have been working on it more than I did this weekend, but I had to sluff working on my build so that I could attend the Rat Fink Reunion. There was a lot of cool stuff to see there. Some cool furniture for sale at the auction. Cool cars. One of the...

I really enjoy painting, I only wish that I could know how to be better at it. Anyways, I did some experimentation with paint this weekend. I ended up getting my wheel painted. I used the method that I learned here by just masking off the spokes and nipples. I also started working on my...

Sometimes I get sidetracked from what I am doing. I need air to do some soda blasting and painting on my project, but a while back my air compressor died. I took my compressor apart and the pump is shot, the parts to fix it cost more that I paid for it brand new. Luckly, my friend gave me a 2...

    Paints (good & bad)

I want to try something other than spray paint. I want a better color selection and something that is more durable than spray cans, yet I don't want to buy automotive quantities. I bought a detail gun last week, I'm still trying to figure out a paint option. Has anybody used the dupli-color...

When you use the Autoair paint, what do you use to clear coat it?

Bare metal builds thread - Let's see em'!

First, I used a wire wheel on my frame, second, paint stripper and then I finished it with a foam sanding block. I wore a pair of Nitrile gloves and they didn't hold up to the stripper. For my fork, I started with the stripper. My wife suggested that I double glove it when I was going to play...

Etta ( completed front fork with assembly and a mock-up!)

I'm building the same bike this year, except that I won't be building a cool fork like that.

I can't get anything done during the week, but with the day off, my wife at work and my kids at school I was able to strip my forks today. I used paint stripper, and I scraped everything off with a razor blade. I finished it off with a flexible sanding block.
