I don't think it is Elgin, the welds don't look right.

Skip-Tooth Montgomery Ward Hawthorne Identification- Please Help!

I don't think it is that early. I think early 40's would have ears on the frame for a drop stand. My 1953 Hawthorne has the same chain ring. I'm guessing late 40's or early 50's.

    Monark Rocket? Bike Identification

Frame design looks correct for Monark, but the chain ring doesn't appear to be original.

Trying to Find my Grandfather's Bike

The one on the left looks like a Shelby with the hidden springer. One on the right looks like it might be an Elgin. The Whizzer motors were sold as kits and could be attached to most any bike. Schwinn did make special frame to be used with the motors. Whizzer also had their own frames and sold...

    New Departure rear hubs???

Went through my wheel sets looking for something that might work for you. Thought a pair from a Monark might work, but when I removed the tires I found they were too badly rusted inside. Sorry. If I run across something I'll let you know.

    New Departure rear hubs???

I'll check and see what I can find. The blackout hubs will be the toughest part. I'm assuming you are looking for 26 inch balloon.

    Wheel Idea

I'm not sure I understand. Are you thinking of a hoop made of copper or a copper colored hoop? If a rim was made of copper, I would think the spoke ends would pull right through it because copper is fairly soft metal. The idea of a skiptooth 3 speed is doable, 3 tabbed skiptooth cogs are...

    New Departure rear hubs???

As others have said, rebuilding a ND hub is not difficult. I can help you with parts if you need anything. I have the transfer springs which often need replacing as well as new clutch parts. I also have the 1/2 inch pitch sprockets so you can change from skiptooth.

    Vintage Japanese motorcycles....

Somewhere I have a photo from about 15 years ago of 13 Honda Dreams parked in my driveway. I picked them from various places for a buyer in the Twin Cities.

    Check out this old tire.

I was looking through my 20 inch tires and stumbled on this one. It say it is a Swallow Monster-Trac. Size is 20 x 2.125 and it says it takes a 20 x 1.75 inner tube. This thing looks like it belongs on a hill climber motorcycle.

need info on cheapest way to ship a bike

BikeFlights.com is the cheapest I believe. You have to have the bike in a bike box so the dimensions fall below the balloon charge. If you both happen to be on or near Amtrak, they are fairly cheap and have a box that allows you to ship by just removing the pedals and turning the handlebars...
