    CHAINRING

It is slow at work and I am surfing ebay (don't tell anyone!) and I found this. http://cgi.ebay.com/HARO-Crank-Sprocket ... 0085409661 I can't afford it but that is no reason why anyone else can't enjoy it!

"I Think I Smell a Rat" by the White Stripes

I've heard that if you grind off everyother tooth in a modern cog, you can run a skiptooth chain on it. I haven't tried this, but it woudl be a shame to loose the skiptooth crank and chain, and think of how neat it would be to run a Nexus with a skiptooth.

Wow! lots of updates going on and I feel like I am falling behind. Well I have a couple of more photos to share... 26x2.125 is the largest I can fit in the frame, this is a Kenda fireball. Attached the headlite to a star nut in the forks, an idea I picked up from...

ANT CYCLES I am aware of the ANT Major Talor frame, it is what inspired me to find a truss framed bike, as well as Sheldon Browns Mead Ranger: http://sheldonbrown.com/ranger.html I like the Ant bike and I am looking to create my own version with fixed gear, drum brake, and modern rims and...

    an oldie

Well I have seen a restored Iver Johnson that the owner claimed was worth $4000, and I have also seen a complete unrestored mint Iver Johnson for $600 (both truss frames). This frame/fork/BB is in pretty rough condition and I think it would be better to fix it up as a rider rather than a...

    an oldie

Well I have a couple of fixed gear skip tooth cogs and a chain on order from dumpsterdiver and I am thinking of a fixed gear road/trail bike. I managed to find a drum front brake because while I like fixed gears I am not totally crazy to go without a brakes. I want a seat with springs and...

    an oldie

Well I just got this frame, an Iver Johnson, maybe from the 1920's, and I am mocking it up with some loose parts. Don't know what I want to do with it yet, will take ideas.

finally an update! Well thanks to the people at bicycledesigner.com I have an update! A new 3 foot sissybar and apehangers give the bike some neat preportions, now I have to figure out how much of a tire I can fit in the back there.

paint I am glad that everyone thinks the bike looks good as is, but the pictures make it look better than it is in person. There are loads of scratches and dings and the beginings of rust in places. At the very least I need to sand out the rust and protect the metal. I would like to unify...

brake advice Thank you for the advice, I didn't think of that at all. Truthfully I don't see this bike getting used all that much, maybe pub crawls and Burningman, both slow easy cruises. I will check on the brakes before I take the bike down a big hill. If I use a 26" wheel on the...

What a neat story! When I was younger I thought of doing the same thing with my trike, but I never managed to do it.

moleman flip? Thanks for the kudos. The flipped frame idea is something I have seen for tallbikes and I love what it does for the geometry. The fun thing is that the seatube of the BMX bike I used fits in the seat tube of the mountain bike, so slip it together and tighten the clamp! I am not...

    Ratty Raleigh

I think straight tube bikes need ratty love to. My mid 70's Raleigh 10speed with 700C wheels, a mid 50's SA 3speed hub, flipped bars from a kids bike and a leather seat. Meaty tires give a great ride and sporty position allows me to scare pedestrians and cut through traffic. Still working...

CRANKS! Well we need cranks and we have a pile of BMX frames.... The neat thing is the seat tube of the BMX frame fits in the seat tube of the mountainbike, a little cutting and grinding and we get, So far so good.

Walmart rodding OK, I am not going to use this frame as is, so I am doing something I have always wanted to, flip the frame.

I wanted to join in the fun but I don't have a spare 50 year old cruiser to rod, so I am using a frame I found on the side of the road. I have most of the parts in my stash, let's see what happens!

Love it! Great, now I need to build one of these for myself. I wish I knew that 24" wheel with 3" tires work with larger frames. I had a set of 24" mags that I sold because there were too small for the 26" frame I had. Bicycledesigner.com has triple t forks with disk brake mounts and a disk...
