Exact same thing happened to me.

They do call it God's country up there. Very beautiful part of the United States, but not very many jobs to be had and a lot of people's children move away. Sorry I never got back to you when I asked you where you lived in the U.P. man.

I agree, I thought the tires would be solid being a prewar sidewalk bike. Now I understand why, especially being knobby tires.
