Transmission,Wheel, and Brake Recommendations? FOR CUSTOM BUILD

When the build off is going on traffic on the regular boards usually goes way down. Therefore it may take some time to get much discussion going.

    RatPink, bike for my daughter.

I'm always glad to see posts about family bikes being put back in service for another generation.

    Todays ride; forest fire

That was certainly not a typical ride but glad you guys happened along before the fire got worse. Did they get it put out?

    Yard art?

Normally I only soak parts in vineger for a day or two. Depends on the amount of rust. I have never soaked anything for a week or more.

    Yard art?

Once you can get the chain off a soak in vinegar will do wonders for removing the rust. Same with the other smaller parts.

It does seem that in most areas of the country the U.S. made 3 speed and single speed light weight bikes do not bring much and can be difficult to sell. I actually like them. A couple of years ago I purchased a Huffy manufactured early 1980's Coast to Coast Marquis 3 speed from a member on this...

    1960's Huffy Eldorado

Thank you for the info. I didn't realize they made a 24" version of the Eldorado until now.

cheapie wal mart stem keeps coming loose with my mx bars any ideas?

Making shims from a aluminum can and wrapping them around the clamped area of the bars usually fixes the problem even if your using incorrect sized bars and stems.

    1960's Huffy Eldorado

There definitely does not appear to be much clearance between the rear tire and the fender mount stay bar or for the front tire in the fork. Did they mount regular 26" ISO559 tires and rims or did they mount some "26x 1 3/8 ISO590's?

Rat Rod Bikes in the UK: 1940s - 50s

I noticed the truss rods in some of the pics as well and was surprised to see that in the UK at that time period.

    AMF Royal Master

Congrats on your find! It's definitely in the AMF Jet Pilot family style. Could be a predecessor to the Jet Pilot or just another model similar to them and sold at the same time. It's a awesome bike for sure. I have a Jet Pilot and love it even though mine is missing the jet shaped seat and the...

I agree with Wildcat, it does look barely ridden. If it were mine I would keep it and ride it. Selling it for $60 to $100 is not that much profit really. I don't know about you but I don't get $20 like new bikes on a regular basis. I would love to own that bike and ride it.

Lets See Those 26" BMX Styled Cruiser Builds

Looks nice. I beleive it might be a Kent La Jolla frame. http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/lajolla-aluminum-frame-26-cruiser-99-at-walmart.69537/ The La Jolla bikes have been around a while and therefore the frames have been changed some through the years. Did you drill the holes...

The 27.5" Huffy Venue belt drive bikes

I'm with you Luke on those chain stays. When I first glanced at the picture a few months ago I thought they were some weird belt guard mounted way high. o_O:crazy2: Agreed that at a much cheaper second hand or scratch and dent price it could make an interesting parts source or wild rebuild. I'd...

The 27.5" Huffy Venue belt drive bikes

I noticed these on Walmarts website and month or two ago and I don't remember them being posted here yet. Sort of surprised to see belt drive on a department store bike. The way the chain stays extend to the down tube is sort of odd looking to me. The color seems to be about the only difference...

PLEASE HELP ME!! Bike Hauling Methods?!

I can relate to using trucks for so long. My current truck is a 1973 Ford F100, mostly original including the 360 FE engine and C6 3 speed auto transmission. Under 90,000 original miles. I bought it from my mechanic who purchased it from the family that bought it new in 1973 for camping trips...
