I mostly restore functional bikes to give away. I have sold a couple to make room and recover expenses. The ones I sold were chronicled here, Gone Fischwinn and the Canal Crawler.
We have those around here too. I really like the non wing sprint cars the best. They are few and far between down here.
Sprint cars may be the most rudimentary race cars on the planet. Their power to weight ratio (in the most powerful series) is greater than F1.
NASCAR cup record on Bristol pavement - Kyle Larson, 14.945 lap record
Sprint Car - Sam Hafertepe Jr., 13.326, 142.098 MPH. (Same track, covered in DIRT.)
You read that right. Nearly two seconds faster, same track on dirt!
Even when he gave it some throttle and slightly broke the tires loose he didn't stay in it. However, I wondered how much of that was him not wanting to be "that guy," who wrecked the quarter million dollar bike.
I'd love to build one. I wonder if they are legit. Really functioning? I see them for $2,500 so there must a catch to this $39 price. Maybe it's fake. Too good to be true...
