Picked up a Sears Screamer today...

The second bike I plan on using a few parts from as it's quite a bit cleaner, haven't looked it over really, has a funky little shifter though, don't know much about it. It does have a headbadge, didn't think it was a Murray but I'll check it out tonight. Was planning on getting what I need...

Picked up a Sears Screamer today...

Seat is in good shape, a few very small chunks missing at the very bottom but barely noticeable, plastic case behind is not cracked and the rear reflector is there but the chrome is bubbling. I was really hoping to swap everything over to the bottom frame but unfortunately it's been welded on...

Picked up a Sears Screamer today...

I don't know why most bikes I buy lately have them on backwards, I suppose kids like to mess with things. It's gonna take a lot of elbow grease but I think it will clean up reasonably well over all.

Picked up a Sears Screamer today...

Traded into this Sears Screamer today, wanted one for a while but the prices are crazy and out of my range typically. A guy offered it up as a trade on a bike I had for sale along with two other frames and a few other parts. It is ROUGH but it's mine and a lot will clean up decently. I'm ready...

    Murray Wildcat? Bike I.D. Question

They are cool bikes for sure, I was hoping she'd back out so I could hang on to it but better yet, she loved it. Once she got here, she hopped on it and took off, so cool. I might have to keep my eye out for another for myself. Muttley, looks like they could be siblings.

    Murray Wildcat? Bike I.D. Question

Well, I stumbled across a Murray Wildcat the other day on Facebook, the right color and everything. Hers may have been a Western Flyer but she is beyond happy with the find. It was delivered to me today, I got it together, a bit of polishing and will deliver it tomorrow. If she doesn't want...

    The Mootree Collection

Thanks, I have since sold the Fastback but replaced it with a '68 Orange Krate. I miss the Fastback but it went to a good home.

    Murray Wildcat? Bike I.D. Question

She didn't remember that either. She got into dirt bikes and forgot about the bike for many years but I've been posting a lot on facebook about bikes and just sparked her interest again. Hopefully, I'll run across one.

My Holy Grail has arrived...'68 Orange Krate.

I don't have it with me but I think it's an October of '68 bike. I think I remember reading that the Pogo seat was discontinued in August of '68? Heck I don't know, I'll believe anything I read.

    Murray Wildcat? Bike I.D. Question

That was the first thing I asked her but she just couldn't remember. The Buzz Bike makes sense as we had a Western Auto close by. The head badge looks pretty darn close too. I own a Buzz Bike III and the frame is different so that wasn't even a thought in my mind. She has me on the hunt for...

    Murray Wildcat? Bike I.D. Question

I have a friend looking for an old bike just like the one she had growing up. She gave me this picture and I haven't been able to come up with definite answer. I'm leaning toward a mid 60's Murray Wildcat due to the point at the rear of the frame. The white wheels are throwing me off too...

My Holy Grail has arrived...'68 Orange Krate.

Been cleaning on this today, feels a bit less overwhelming after a trip to the car wash. It's gonna clean up better than I thought. Grips, seat, sissy bar, and chain guard decals and it will be in good shape. I assume the front tire isn't supposed to be completely bald?[emoji12]

My Holy Grail has arrived...'68 Orange Krate.

I've been trying to figure out the chain guard situation, that really "makes" the bike. Hopefully I'll come up with something besides the water slide option. Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

My Holy Grail has arrived...'68 Orange Krate.

It does but with the seat cranked up and large handlebars, it's reasonably comfortable for a full size human. I'm 6 foot tall and have no problem riding a Stingray. Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

My Holy Grail has arrived...'68 Orange Krate.

So last weekend, I sold the blue Fastback and it was a bit rough on me. You probably know the feeling, you want to sell it but you also want to keep it. It's a viscous tug of war. Now, rewind about 4 months or more. I got a text from a friend's mom before Christmas who knew I was into...

Mid to late 60's Mattel Stallion BMX/Muscle Bike

Some pitting and surface rust. I've done a lot of cleaning on this bike but it could still use some more if you desired. New Raleigh Redline tires and tubes. It has rear suspension which is adjustable. Seat is in great condition. These are neat bikes, never seen another in person. Presents...

1936-37 Colson LWB to board track inspired, start to finish

Been keeping an eye out for a carbide lamp for a while and found one today at the antique mall. Made a quick bracket when I got home and mounted it up on the bike. I dig it, stole the mounting location from someone on here, just think they look neat down low. Also found this cool old tool...

JC Higgins score. I need to stop.

Spent some more time on this last night. Pulled the tanks, cleaned inside and out, waxed the frame underneath, basically working my way back from the front including the underside of the front fender. I'll be pulling the chain guard next and working on that area. I have this on the local...

    The Mootree Collection

I got lucky, my parents left it in the pole barn for years. They called me a year or two ago and told me to come get it or it goes in the trash. I'm glad I grabbed it, it's kind of a turd but it's also a time capsule to me I suppose.
