Prewar find but what is it?

Question for you guys, I pulled the seat post and will be going for the low, almost on the rear fender look. I was surprised that the post is smaller on the seat mount end than the part that slides in the frame. Plan was to run the long end as the seat mount and the short end in the frame. Do...

Put on my big boy pants today...1969 Fastback 5-speed w/ Ramshorns

It seems that every '69 Fastback on the internet has different pedals, do you have a picture by any chance? Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

I have no intention of swapping the chain guard nor the bars, especially if it couldn't have been produced that way. It's pretty obvious that they've been on there forever, maybe even since it left the dealer. I honestly may not have even bought it if it had regular bars, the rams horns are...

Prewar find but what is it?

Started tearing it down after work, I'm amazed at what can hide under some surface rust. It was originally red with white scallops with a green repaint. Trying to get through the green, then I plan to clear coat it.

I'm not sure it's that important to me honestly. Since I can't find a definite answer on if one was even made in '69, I'd hate to do all of that only to find it was not even produced. It's still in my kitchen, that way I can look at it without going to the garage (my wife is thrilled). Sent...

Prewar find but what is it?

Change of plans, brought it home today. No fork, stem, nor handlebars but very cool and the price was right. Serial number is 7858A. I'll be starting the parts hunt shortly, the wife just smiled as she had no knowledge of the purchase. As long as she continues to smile, I figure there is...

I love this site, once I think I have it figured out, someone sets me straight [emoji12] . Thanks man!

Prewar find but what is it?

It has to be a Colson from the pics I've found, not sure of the year but it sounds like there are some resources out there to run the serial number. Hoping for something along these lines...I think this is a '33.

According to that, I'm not seeing it as a "stock" option but regardless, I like them better than the standard bars, gives it a unique look.

I really appreciate it, looks like you are on the right track with the Colson. Looking forward to seeing the serial number but you pointed me I the right direction. I'm hoping that there won't be any cracks or bends in the frame but I have a backup plan if so.

Will do, plan to get it a week from Monday so it will be few days. Can't wait to see it in person. Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

Prewar find but what is it?

I just bought this based on the picture and the price but he doesn't know the brand and it looks to be missing a few things. I'm typically a muscle bike guy but lately been dreaming of a board track racer type build, (flipped bars, maybe a bit of leather, etc). I'm a little outta my league...

I was noticing that myself. I'd guess the bars have been switched out as the chain guard patina matches the bike. Bars could have been swapped out at the original purchase too but who knows. Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

September of '69 I believe. I'd be interested to hear what you all think it's roughly worth. I have no plans of selling but would like to know where I stand. I love this thing, it matches my '70 nicely. Sent from my 0PAJ5 using Tapatalk

Can't find any markings on the light at all. Another cool feature of the bike is the original bike shop sticker, kinda neat. It does have a Western Flyer front tire but everything else seems very original

Thanks for the info, I assume it was considered to be an accessory and not original to the bike?

The seller threw in an original Schwinn speedo as well, thought that was pretty cool of him.

Ran to Kansas City tonight to pick this up after seeing it on Facebook Marketplace earlier in the week. I did all I could to hold back but it sucked me in:grin:. It appears to be all original but there are many guys on here that know way more than I do who will hopefully set me straight...

A Stingray, Buzz Bike, and a Mattel Stallion walk into a bar...

Actually, a bit cheesy but I just pulled the bottom bearings out which allowed the tube to slide up just far enough to grab some threads. It's on there good enough for a ceiling hanger, I have four others that I can ride if I get the urge. Think I'm done messing with this one for now. If...
