    Boardtrack Theory

Personally I love the low, fast look of the boardtracker but it just kills my knees if I put too long of a ride in. Having gears does help a lot so you're not straining too much on the hills. When I built the Gas-Pipe I tried to find a bigger frame that suited my 6'2" but opted for the...

    A manly Ratbike?

I built this Spaceliner up for my wife late year and I swear it's the most comfortable handlebar and seat setup I've ever ridden. I'd ride the bike more if she'd let me anywhere near it...

    Gas Pipe Special

Cheers for the comments guys :) Forgot to add the specs this morning: Frame: 1950 Schwinn Hornet Forks: 1950 Schwinn Hornet Springer with a repro spring (the original was too soft and compressed an inch just with the weight of the bike alone) Wheels: Generic rims from a Schwinn Cruiser-4...

    Gas Pipe Special

I'd first like to say what an amazing collection of bikes in the build off this year! The workmanship and variety is astounding and I'm proud just to be amongst such talented builders. If it wasn't for this site I'd still be obsessively polishing a re-built straight-bar and thinking the...

'Gas Pipe Special' - Finished at last :)

I had a nice piece of Teak shelving that was the perfect red colour for the build but I can't find it anywhere. Time to find a nice old piece of wood a s a replacement. Mmmmm... nobody will ever notice where I got this from: I was up until 1am sanding and staining the tank insert so I...

'Gas Pipe Special' - Finished at last :)

Re: 'Gas Pipe Special' - Update Aug 30 Ok, got a lot to do today. I've been very busy at work all week building up 70+ samples for a bicycle show so I've been too beat to work on the rod... Time to build a shifter. Got this off ebay and I was planning to attach it to the seatpost but it was...

    BLINK's custom Raleigh fixie!

    The finished gender reassignment monark

I agree, it looks great to me... This is my non-rat daily rider with a similar slope in the TT:

'Gas Pipe Special' - Finished at last :)

Re: (Indi-ain't) Name change - 'Gas Pipe Special' Wow, a not long to go and soooo much to do... Figured out a fix for my bent seatpost problem (see also the name change). Nothing some steel pipe, fittings and metal-epoxy can't fix: Gotta work on a tank and shifter this weekend, will post...

'Gas Pipe Special' - Finished at last :)

Re: Indi-ain't Been busy getting ready for a family vacation so I haven't had much time to work on the bike. Swapped the bars and stem for something that looks a more board-tracker. Gonna wrap the bars somehow to get rid of the shine and make them blend into the rest of the bike. Twine and...

How to build a low-buck Fixie

One peice of advice when choosing a crank, try to go with the shortest length that you feel comfortable with. The first fixie I built had 175 crank arms and I discovered that taking tight corners when your pedals are in constant motion can end in sparks :)

The Cat's Meow (Raleigh Fixed Gear)

That's a great looking fixie, nice and clean. "But yeah, the front brake is going on no matter what." Good idea, I had a chain snap on my last fixie and it's no fun trying to stop when you have nothing to pedal back on... I installed a front brake once I finished cleaning the twigs and leaves...

Orange Crush - Close but not done Update 07/09/08

Re: Orange Crush - Close but not done Update 07/08/08 Great colour! I did a fixie in the same orange last year. "Here are a couple of pictures of the saddle I purchased. At this point I am not sure if I am going to keep it or not since it has a bunch of scuff marks on it." Keep the saddle...

    Copperhead Road

Wow, sweet bars, I'll have to try that on one of my bikes. It's a great sollution for anyone who doesn't have a welder. Great idea! The bike is looking amazing, mine looks slow in comparison :)
