Thanks! That was not the original intent when I started the build but it did start to get that Red Baron look part way through so I just ran with it

Thank you! When I was reassembling it the chain guard looked great in bright red but I just felt like it needed something to break it up a little bit so I added the spade and the pin stripes

Learned a whole lot about bikes during my first ever build. Finally it's mehanically sound and im racing to the finish up some detail work. I though the red chain guard with the torpedo shape was cool but it just lacked something so I hit I with some flair to break it up and still hopefully...

Wanting the red insert to pop I added a 1/8th white pinstripe tape outline to the whole thing and I have to say I'm super happy! Big guy with a little bike lol Finally got to add my matte black Maltese cross decals I've been itching to put on it!

At this point I was ready to throw my frame off a cliff. However I made the decision that the only way to fix this was to hand paint the red. So with steady hands of my wife she painted the areas red and it turned out amazing. Crisis averted!

Needing all the help I could get I ran to KJV to help a brother out and get me straightened out. Now the red looked good but we had some overspray in spots so we had to hit it with some black primer. So now I had a frame with some satin and some flat paint. Being an idea I bought some flat...

Being my first bike build and paint job I didn't realize that I need to sand or scuff the area I wanted to paint red so the paint just ran everywhere, stuck to the tape, and peeled off when I took the tape off. Smh

Chose to go with satin black so it would have a little bit of shine. Then taped off bead rolled section of the tank which was to be painted red.

A little primer, more metal work, then more primer......

I'm aweful at updating this thing. After my mock up I proceeded to go down quite the rabbit hole in terms of painting. To be frank I quickly found out that it is definitely not my calling in life! Little chain guard painting gave me a false sense that I may be ok at this painting thing. Wrong

I'll try and mock that up and then post a pic to see what you guys think. It definitely sounds like a cool option.
