Newer three peice cranks in an old cruser

I have quite a few BMX three piece cranksets in my old cruisers, Redlines, Eastern and Haro cranksets with 19mm spindles, you don't need any kind of adaptor if you use this style crankset, they come with washers to adjust your chain line. Older American bikes are all American bottom bracket...

Couple of 700c single speeds I've been building

Thanks fellas, I've always preferred the older bikes as well and do still have a couple of cool old Schwinn Racers, just cant' find the older frames with the straight true track dropouts, hard to say but I think the Langster rides a little better, super smooth and just rolls forever.

What toys did you have as a kid ?

A lot of good memories in this thread, growing up in the 80's, here's a few I loved as a kid.

Thanks man, not a roadie myself but I do like a fast bike. You'd never catch me in spandex!!:21:

Couple of 700c single speeds I've been building

Every year when the temp starts dropping I feel the need for speed, in years past I would pick me up a nice road bike but I've come to hate a janky ole derailleur, never can get the adjustment just right to use all available speeds without any noise or rubbing, at least on anything more then a 6...

    Giant West Coast Simple

    Klunker Build

Nice looking Huffman frameset, I think Bell shortened the chains available to Walmart now, I noticed that the last time I picked one up from there, used to, one was enough for a 26" bike, but now I have to pick up 2 to make it work on a cruiser.

    80's Huffy

Thanks us56456712, good thing is they can be had for cheap, these pop up quite often on craigslist and other local sites for next to nothing.

    His & Hers Huffys

Awesome score at that price, love those old Huffy road bikes, here's one I picked up for 15 bucks and made into a single speed street racer. It's honestly one of my favorite bikes to ride, she's fast.

    27" Single Speed

Thanks guys, been clocking a lot of miles on it since I got it dialed in.

    27" Single Speed

I only drop down in the launch attack position when on long un-obstructed stretches, I just like faster cruising speeds. I don't ride on the highway's, only on the bike paths and back neighborhoods, the coaster is super smooth and i'm not much of a risk taker any more, all is very calculated.

Varsity Rebuild! My lucky find! Updated 6-5

Man, that came out real nice, looks like Chevrolet orange, I see you have a couple of sweet looking chevy's in the background that compliment it nicely.

    27" Single Speed

Picked this here single speed track style bike up a few weeks back locally for 90 bucks. The guy I bought it from was an older fella from NY who hand built a set of 27" Mavic G-40 wheels with a Histop coaster brake for it. It's a 700c chromoly frameset, Thompson 110mm stem, Campagnolo front hub...

    Schwinn Varisty crusier project

Yeah, looks good, layback seatpost and longer stem and there'd be plenty of room. I have an older single speed Schwinn Racer, frame looks just like yours, that was the same color but mine came as a single speed, I did a real nice build on it, fun rider. I have the 1.5 tires on mine though, real...

    80's Huffy

Thanks fellas, these old frames are perfect for single speed setups, American bottom bracket, horizontal dropouts, fun and great riding bikes, they can also be picked up for cheap! They weren't afraid to put a little rake on the fork back then.:41:

    80's Huffy

Thanks Luke, she's a blast to ride, has that good ole 80's feel to it, I really like the colors on it.

    80's Huffy

Scored this here 80's steel 56cm Huffy road bike last night for a staggering 15 bucks, she's a beast, strip down began immediately. I threw on a set of 26" coaster wheels with some blue 1.5" Origin 8 tires, a 52t Crown Japan crank sprocket and 18t rear, cleaned and repacked all the bearings...
