    Raleigh 20

Sweet Twenty! I've had my eye out for one of those for a while, but no luck yet. I bumped into a neighbor riding one identical to yours the other day, and he told me he bought it many years ago in Brooklyn and doesn't want to part with it. The search goes on...

    '58 Humber

Bummer that it's not exactly what you expected, but it certainly has some charms and I love that chain ring! I've been looking for something similar, and jumped at the offer of a Rudge, but when I got there, it was a lady's frame. I had to pull the ad up on my iPhone, and sure enough, if you...

    Thrift store bike prices.

They're all over the map here, each thrift shop seems to have its own semi-random pricing method. One Salvation Army has had a battered Nishiki road bike on the rack for $250, it'll be there forever at that price. At another SA, I've seen a nice Panasonic DX-5000 and a 70's Atala for under $50...

Look what followed me home yesterday

That's sneaky thinking pal. I bet I could squirrel away a few bikes in my office... Great score, and just my size!!

1954 NSU Touring Frame buildet up

Wow, that's a beauty! Nice job! What is the little tube coming out of the back of the head tube for? Also, are those wheel chair tires?

    Un flippin' believable.

    I'm speechless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa55PUwo00E

    Magic Wheel

It looks like it would be fun for downhill runs after upgrading the rear caster to a pneumatic and maybe adding fatter rubber up front. It looks surprisingly well made, but everything about the website and video looks cheezy: "The latest urban craze of the 21st Century?" Give me a break...

    So Happy I could explode!!!

Excellent score, congrats! That saddle looks like the same one I have on an old Varsity, easily the most uncomfortable saddle I've used. The Brooks will be a great upgrade. Your cat looks like the chubby cousin of one of mine:

    Dump score

I looks like a common option, I found another ladies-framed bike similar to mine and it had the same speedo. I'm making an effort to not become an expert on Free Spirits :D

Fresh finds 3 and 4 this weekend (so far)

Ah yes, another gorilla owner. They're fairly easy to spot by the banana crates, bite marks, and dislocated limbs.

    U Haul it!

Good eye. The not-quite-matching top tube and hacked seat stays are a giveaway. Cool find!

    Extreme Terrain Bike/Hanebrink

A local bike shop owner used to build similar bikes using ATV tires/wheels, they looked like they'd work pretty well on the beach or other loose surfaces. Unfortunately, he closed his shop several years ago.

Like another hole in the head...

Nice score, it's in much better shape than my battered Columbia Twosome, and my "permissive one" still said "cool!" when she saw it. If your buyer's remorse gets the better of you, let me know. :D

    Dump score

The rack on your Free Spirit is great, I just scored one too:

    My freshly rebuilt German racer

I finally finished flogging this beast into shape and sold it on Craigslist. It turned out to be a much better rider than I expected, and I would have hung onto it if the frame was a bit smaller. This was the end result:

    Powerlite beach cruiser

I saw that at the show last weekend, very cool work!

    What's with Sirius radio?

Yeah, they've been shifting things around for while. I used to listen to David Johansen's show on Sirus Disorder and they suddenly moved it from thirty something up near the jazz channels. The AC/DC thing is annoying too, since the punk channel was pretty good and now they only seem to play...

What Operating System Are you? Post a Pic of computer Space

Re: What Operating System Are you? Running XP and Linux systems at home, AIX, SunOS, & various flavors of Windows Server at work. I recently built a new system for my wife and had a choice of XP or Vista - I went with XP of course... I dig that desk Hooch, and I've got an early 60's steel...

    Drum brake wheel

Sweet, it looks too heavy to wheelie though! I saw a similar wheel at a flea market a while back and did some googling on the hub's manufacturer, and it turned out to be a moped wheel...
