    Jazzy-Ray: Customer Feedback added!

How about opening up the bead in the fender, inserting a short length rod that will poke down and act as a guide. Or maybe instead of the rod, a long machine screw inserted into the fender lip with a small piece of tube which can server as a roller, retained by the head of the screw.

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

I don't that I'd say importing, in the sense that they are warehoused here- he shipped from Japan but as I understand it he runs the Natsukashi site. They have the new Tange 125's in stock I hear... now I have to talk myself into not needing one of those too.

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

Ordered it through ePay just 'cause the watch list is easy, and building and deleting watchlists is cheap entertainment. It comes from Natsukashi in Japan. Dunno if he follows this site, but he's Moonster over on the museum. Was planning on ordering a set of the Nitto Cruiser bars from them just...

Weinmanns all the way. Canti frames need the wider wheel IMO. 1.75's aren't that much wider in actual fact, but they look it due to the shape.

Not at all, conversations keep threads alive when I drain my wallet and have to wait for parts ;)

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

Hit ePay for "bomb proof 26" (or if you're in Los Angeles their shop is JustRideLA). They have 1" threaded and 1 1/8 threadless. Dunno the whole story, whether they bought out manufacturer stock or had them made for themselves or whatever, but they are full cromo and HEAVY. Made from some...

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

No, but I should have. My thoughts for one of those 5 DX frames I picked up was a "DX-S" build in full X-S Six-Shooter battle dress... Cruise-O-Matic seems to be the only name Schwinn didn't license when they were in their powermatic/hydramatic/supermatic phase and it kinda fits a 26". And...

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

And today's visit from the postman betrays the 'double' theme. Have to wait till payday to order the Redline Double Pinch cranks (poverty sucks) but at least the theme is taking shape. Tell you what, Nitto is making these stems out of some SERIOUS stuff- the stem weighs more than (twice?) the...

    '86 Jamis Boss "Double Phat"

The stating point, a 1986 Jamis Boss: The Phat theme's pretty obvious when you ponder that 1 1/4" top tube, the double part, well you'll see. Machine Age Victim raised the bar pretty high on his build...

    Weekend grail scores...

Well, I'm keeping the '39 and the '42, the others turn out to be a '41 (with the little tube for the rubber-baby-buggy-bumpers so it was the top of the line Excelsior- has the script decal on the downtube), 2 '48 fat tubes (one straight bar one curved) and one 42-47 fat tube which I'm calling a...

    Weekend grail scores...

Three pre-war and three just after (haven't measured but I think they're all fat tubes) including front and center, a '39 DX. The Huffy I picked up at the second hand bike shop on the way home for half the cost of the snakebellies.

    La Esperanza

First day of summer and first shakedown run- it rides, it shifts, it stops. Second day of summer and second shakedown run... it breaks the chain. I just HAD to try to save the rusty old chain for the 'patina' lol. Not ready to move it to the "done" column yet (seat and post are temporary)...

Jumpin on a SIDEWINDER with both feet....

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by low profile, but 1950's Schwinns had an inverted set up you might be able to use. Instead of the cup pressing into the frame, a race similar the fork race went in and the cup was threaded onto the fork. Looks like yours is a threadless fork, so you might have...

    La Esperanza

Woot! .... represent lol. Finally something resembling real progress to report. Mr. Postman dropped of a 'just this side of cherry' 59 Jaguar frame with just the right mix of patina and shine allowing me to finally at least get to the mock up stage. Also broke down and bought some Duro tires-...

Crickets...crickets...crickets... At that "lots of time, not a lot to show for it" phase right now, but basically component cleanup is done. Acid bathed the worst of the scale and got a quick coat of wax on things to hold them steady, unfroze the chain, repacked bearings and the freewheel and...

    83 Schwinn BMX

Don't forget the King Sting 808- a year ahead of the Sidewinder and a light cromo frame. But the fuddy-duddies at Schwinn couldn't seem to decide if they wanted to be serious (Sting/King Sting) or go down the mass-market approach (Sidewinder/recycled hi-ten 20" frames) selling "All-Terrain...

    La Esperanza

Ugg, had to check in once I stopped fuming. Started cleaning up the doner parts... and somewhere along the way not only did someone seem to think that some super harsh chemical like carb cleaner was the hip thing to clean a bicycle with, burning half the paint off otherwise pretty sharp ACS...

    La Esperanza

Naw, this build is basically a replica of the cruiser dad gave me in 1983. If you scroll up you'll see that bike as it is now, which will eventually get a real Schwinn springer, painted in the traditional Phantom pattern to match the '32. Dad's is nice (backround) but my boss' car is just flat...

    We want the Klunk

Hope it's the smooth stuff. The liner on dad's truck in like 80 grit... I'd hate to rub my knees up against it.
