No. 3 build ready to kick off...

Couldn't resist fitting my ACE's alternative wide, pull-back bars featuring inverted levers and longer cables to see how they look. I love both the dropped board tracker style handlebars and these pull-back bars, but the pull-backs will definitely be more comfortable on longer rides. Big fan of...

Boardtracker / Antique motorcycle style bicycle build

Well done for sticking with a colour from RALs period-looking range. Same range I choose my paint colours from. As a (retired) graphic artist, I find it's always best to select colours from a restricted palette. Otherwise, the more colour swatches you look at, and the longer you spend looking...

Boardtracker / Antique motorcycle style bicycle build

Nice period-looking colour choice. Option 2 would get my vote. Has to be a more durable finish than chalk paint intended mainly for up-cycling furniture. Then go to town with your wax-aging process. Looking forward to seeing the result. What news - if any - about an in-frame tank if you're...

    Show us them cars!

Ah, the memories. That's a very interesting history of your ae86GT racers. Bet the look on those Seven driver's faces was priceless. You must finish your red GT. That'll be quite a nice little addition to your pension pot! Out of curiosity, I searched for UK ae86GTs for sale and came across a...

    Show us them cars!

Love it. Purchased one of these Corolla GTs new, back in the day. Had all the black trim items (bumpers, mirrors, spoilers, side rubbing strips) colour-coded in white before it left the dealership. Wife Jen drove a new mk1 MR2 with same engine, but mid-mounted. I still preferred my GT. These...

    New Ruff Porucho build

Thanks. Forks look very similar to Ruff's Regulator sprung fork designed to fit their frames.

    New Ruff Porucho build

Following this build with interest. Always fancied having a stab at a Ruff Porucho. Question re your forks. Were these a one-off to your specs, or does your London builder sell these commercially?

No. 3 build ready to kick off...

Progress, after a period of relative inactivity. Finished-up silver soldering the steel reinforcing gussets to the ACE's drop loop frame earlier this week. This enabled me to loosely install the 125cc Skyteam Ace motor into the frame and get it upright for the first time yesterday. Big day for...

Stretching a Frame - But HOW MUCH do I stretch?

Looks cool....but un-rideable. Kneeing yourself in the chin every pedal rotation isn't a cool look.....

Boardtracker / Antique motorcycle style bicycle build

Bart, Excellent vintage lamp choice. Will really compliment your build. Just a couple of weeks back I retro-fitted one of the vintage bicycle lamps from my collection with a rechargeable LED lamp. Everything self-contained within the lamp itself, so no wiring involved. As luck would have it, the...

Rough Dayton Huffman Twin flex frame

Thanks Matt. Profile cut from my drawings by local metal fabrication company here in the North East UK who offer flame, laser and water-jet cutting in a variety of metals and thicknesses amongst their many other services. Surprisingly cheap to be honest. Way more cost effective than buying-in...

Rough Dayton Huffman Twin flex frame

I agree whole-heartedly. My previous and my current ongoing motorized builds (pics below) were constructed using frames that were reinforced with waterjet-cut gussets and slugged DOM tube inserts to provide additional strength where necessary. A very real design consideration if using any motor...

Boardtracker / Antique motorcycle style bicycle build

Oh I agree entirely Matt. I pretty much covered that explanation for Bart taking the route he did in my post. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade here. Just sayin.... As the offspring of a carpenter, my tip for making home brewed wood fenders easier to bend/form would be to use thinner...

Boardtracker / Antique motorcycle style bicycle build

The wood fenders are a great idea - but I have to ask why feel the need to go to the trouble of fabricating them from scratch when wood fenders are available ready-made, over the counter? Just seems like adding to your workload un-necessarily. Big fan of your rigid girder forks on this build...

Rough Dayton Huffman Twin flex frame

Oh man...with the fog of years of neglect clearing, we're beginning to see the vision you had in mind for that frame when you made the wise decision to fund its cross-continent journey. I'm a motorizing guy, so I can only imagine how cool that sprung frame would look paired with a pre-war '30s...

Rough Dayton Huffman Twin flex frame

Well put, sir! You scored a real vintage beauty there. Your build - do it your way. Interested in seeing how the crinkly powder-coat pans out. Contemplated using that on my latest build which is still in bare metal.

Rough Dayton Huffman Twin flex frame

Great work. Have to say I like the 'pitted' look. Save yourself a bunch of time and money by sanding the frame just the right amount, leaving a little rust in all the pits which could then be neutralized 'n sealed under few coats of protective clear lacquer applied to the entire frame/forks...

    Anybody else have a motorcycle?

Beautiful photo of your Drifty! These Drifter 800s are super rides. Some nights I don't even bother turning the TV on and just stare at mine instead. Love it! Those aftermarket pipes (Hard Krome?) make a helluva racket compared to the underwhelming sound of the original 2-into-1 system. Owned...

    Anybody else have a motorcycle?

Privately imported this '03 Kawa Drifter 800 ('49 Indian tribute) into the UK from Tampa FL last year. Super-low miles (2855). Absolutely pristine on account of spending nearly its whole life in an a/c'd garage. Bargain, at about a quarter the price of a new Indian equivalent - and way more...
