    Dilemma

BMX-guru sells flat axles. Other places might have them also. You can remove and gently grind your own axle. If the Shelby fork has any future collector value I wouldn't want to grind on it, but that's always a option also. The store bought flat axle isn't very expensive, take some...

    Chemical hand warmer hack

This shows them activated. He doesn't show boiling or reactivating them, it's not recommended to microwave them, don't do as I do. Hope this helps.

    Chemical hand warmer hack

You heat them to return them to a liquid so they can be used later. Really, do a Google search, watch a video, I'm not doing a good job of explaining how they work.

    Chemical hand warmer hack

They are awesome. It's hard to explain but I'll give it a try. The little metal disk in the warmer is concave, you pop it, like what people call oil canning. That sets off a reaction in the packet that turns the liquid (totally safe liquid, you could eat it) into a solid and puts out heat. Once...

Fat bike from scratch or dolomite upgrades: Help!

I have a used Surly Moonlander frame and fork. Scratches chips, nothing dented or bent, no rust. That could be the start of a nice higher end fatty. I'm pretty sure it's over your price point ceiling. $300 + ship. It can get expensive real fast.

    fed barron

Yes, that is a good deal. They have kind of a cult following. I bought a frame a year ago with a bad rattle can paint job and the problematic 360 degree rotating kickstand for $75, it was perfectly straight other wise. That was a year ago and you just don't see them as much anymore. Seems the...

    Art deco bike ideas please

Found this beauty searching the web. Wonderful lines. A simple but somewhat complex design at the same time. I have no information on it.

    Prewar Excelsior (Or Elgin?) Motobike.

Just found a 1933 Schwinn catalog on line, both frame styles (like yours and like mine) were available in 1933, mine being a larger frame. No help here. You have a sweet ride there, didn't mean to hijack your thread, just looking for a pos id on mine.

    Prewar Excelsior (Or Elgin?) Motobike.

This is how mine differs from yours, the two lower tubes meet right at the head tube, and the space between the top 2 tubes looks closer. Like I said, not sure about anything, I dig the frame and the price was right.

    Prewar Excelsior (Or Elgin?) Motobike.

Nope, not mine. That's the prob using prewar s/n, that list is not "Schwinn" as the Schwinn records were lost in a fire. I was told mine was a 33-34, my s/n is 5 numbers with no letters. I really dig the frame but I'm not 100% sure the year, it dosen't matter that much although it would be nice...

    Prewar Excelsior (Or Elgin?) Motobike.

I'm curious how the bike was dated as a 1933. I have a 1933 possible 34 Schwinn frame. I know s/n records were lost in a fire, so numbers are just a guess. What determined it was a 1933? My frame is a little different then yours so it sparked my interest.
