    Tire size Q

I ended up going with Kenda Komfort 26x2.125 Wire Clincher 60TPI tires. The Kenda K892 tires on my wife's bike have held up well for years, and I seriously considered picking up some through eBay, but I preferred tires that don't have the knobby edges. As these will be mounted on wider rims, I...

What have you been riding lately?

Quick 7 miles around a nearby small river town this morning. Traffic in that town can get busy, but this morning it was quiet and peaceful.

    Tire size Q

Anyone have any recommendations on 26" tires in the 2.125" or 2.2" range? I see various offerings from Maxxis, Kenda, Duro, Sunlite, CST, etc. I don't want to pay premium $$, but I don't want ultra cheap, either. I'm not a mountain biker, but I sometimes go off-road for short stretches, I do...

    How often do you ride?

The most I've done is 50 a couple of times. I've harbored the fantasy of doing a Century ride, but I'm not sure I have it in me, and at 62+, I'm not getting any younger. The majority of my rides are 20 or less.

    Tire size Q

Here's Big Red set up with the 650Bx47. It looks like the 650x47 and 26x2.3 are close to the same diameter, but the 26" tires are about 3/8" wider at the same distance from the hub.

    Tire size Q

Back again with more tire size ruminations. I stripped the goodies from the frame I called Big Red to build up the new Budnitz frame I've been riding. I've thought numerous times about trying to sell the old red frame, but being heavier carbon steel, I doubt I'd get much, even if I included the...

    How often do you ride?

Yeah, I had a freak bike wreck the last week of October 2020, and broke my foot in two places. Not only did we have two more weeks of mild, sunny weather, but we had the best foliage we've seen around here in years. All I could do was hobble to and from the mailbox for a solid month, and cry...

What have you been riding lately?

Riding loops around the local county fairgrounds beginning at sunrise this morning.

    How often do you ride?

Thanks for chiming in, guys. I got in a bit over 10 miles starting at sunrise this morning, doing laps around the local fairgrounds. It was getting hot fast by the time I finished. We need rain badly.

    How often do you ride?

I'm pretty certain I've read that some of you ride daily. If so, are they long-ish (10+ miles) or shorter? When I retired not quite 2 years ago, I came out of the gate fast, riding as much as 6 days a week. Though I was enjoying myself, it was hard to sustain that pace. Eventually I dropped off...

    Budnitz Alpha

Yep. It was the easiest and most rigid way I could come up with for mounting it on this frame. It had a set of chromed cantilever arms, but I'm not crazy about how they look.

    Budnitz Alpha

Better. Just a short spin around the neighborhood tells me the Terry Liberator Y will be more comfortable than the Brooks Cambium.

    Budnitz Alpha

It's a Budnitz Alpha, designed by Paul Budnitz up in VT. His business went under last year during the pandemic and another VT company, Cool Planet Bikes, bought up his remaining inventory. Last I saw they had one large and one medium frame left. Mine is a large (20" seat tube).

    Budnitz Alpha

I've decided to end my Brooks experience and send the saddle back while I have a return window. I'll just go back to my previous gel saddle for now.

    Budnitz Alpha

One final early morning ride for the week, a tad over 15 miles. The Brooks C17 is not a comfortable seat, at least not yet. My backside will need a few days of rest before getting back on a bike.

    Budnitz Alpha

8 miles in and around a nearby small river town this morning.

Just arrived. Bit of a splurge to top off the new bike.

What have you been riding lately?

Early Monday morning ride. No more chain tensioner. Half-links are a wonderful thing.
