I think that the hub was created for folding bikes with 20 inch wheels. That would explain the gear ratios. I swapped out the rear cog for a 23T w/26" wheel. Helps a lot with beach cruising, but would not be ideal for extended hill climbing.

Yes, you should install the anti-rotation washers on the flatted axle. I would place them on the axle inside the dropouts,tabs facing out. You may have to spread the frame a little, as you go, to get the hub to slide in. The axle threads are fine and shallow. Tighten nuts snug, but not tight, or...

Regarding finding a bike shop, look for one that prides itself for BMX bikes sales and service. Talk with the mechanic and state the brand name of your hub, and that it is a 29er .

Whatever size that you want. The mounting points on the fork are the "bosses". The caliper mounts on the appropriate adapter for the rotor size, and the adapter mounts to the bosses.
