I put up an FYI video tutorial on how to find the center of a disc. Some people struggle with this, and I think I have a pretty good method for doing it:

Anyone plan on working on their bike more AFTER the deadline?

Just wondering how many other people have ideas that you just can't squeeze into the allotted time? I'm pretty sure there are some parts I ordered that I won't get in time to make them work. I also have some ideas that are probably just too time consuming to make happen before the deadline...

Don't know if I'll work them into this build, but kinda cool!

Another part I've been saving for a special occasion (actually, they came on a used bike and I've been stuck with them because nobody makes shoes that fit them anymore). Far from practical, but these have enough of a platform that you can use them without special shoes. I may fiddle around...

Well, if I need a matching aluminum plate eBay is chock full of them, some for only $1, problem is everybody wants $10-$15 to ship one! I may try to score a cheap one, but in the interest of time I'm still looking at alternatives.

I guess cutting might be a little faster, but I'll just stick with unscrewing everything... (And by "everything" I mean "1 nut")

Got some cool stuff at Goodwill. Picked up this sexy little spun aluminum plate for $1! Oh how I wish there were two of them! That's the problem with thrift stores, cool stuff for cheap, but usually only one. At first I thought it was a Christmas plate, but it's actually got a picture of a...

If I have time I'd like to make some fake butterfly valves, but it's kinda getting down to the wire. The cab lights aren't super expensive new, but I got four at a swap meet for $20. These are the newer plastic ones. Older ones were metal, but I think would be harder to work with for bikes. For...

The light housings are just semi truck cab clearance lights. I'm going for more of an injector scoop look, but they would be a good place to put lights. Right now they kind of go off in different directions though. I may look for another type of party plate that's easier to work with for the...

This is the other thing I've been working on: Still needs a little adjusting, but it's just mocked up for fit right now. I'm liking the way it's turning out. Hoping to paint some stuff tomorrow in between rain showers:

Still thinking about some sort of rear wheel disc. Found this plate at Dollar General for a dollar. Looked like it might fit the rear wheel so I picked it up: Tried to drill a hole in the center and found out this is the most brittle plastic in the world! It immediately cracked almost all...

My stopping point for tonight. Took a fair amount of fiddling with, but it looks like it is going to work out better than I hoped. Picked up some hardware today to move on to the next step tomorrow.

So, traditionally this is the point in the build-off where I realize I'm in over my head and bail out, but I'm on vacation all next week so I'm hoping to make some serious forward progress. Lately I've been struggling with this "tank" area, both with the lines and with making something that...

Still thinking about different ways to approach the tank. The longer I wait, the more ideas I come up with so I wanted to hold off a little longer for final inspiration. In the meantime I moved on to something else. Before I get too far into engineering it I wanted to get some opinions. If...

Just wanted to post a little update since I haven't posted in a while. Started working on the "tank" area, made a template, then transferred that to foam board so I could mock it up with the correct thickness. Good thing I did, because I found out it will never go in as one piece. Going to make...

Here's another place I used them. Drilling and tapping a round object is a little tricky, but I think it was worth it.

Unless something has changed, you can submit as many photos as you want of your finished build. There is usually someone who puts together a gallery of the bikes using your first photo, but you can take as many pictures as you want. One year one guy even travelled like 600 miles or something to...

Man I wish I could weld, bike building would be so much cooler.

Not a huge thing, but I'm kinda in love with these little parts I found at the motorcycle store. They're titanium colored bungee cord holders. I'm going to try not to go overboard with them, but I've found several places where they look cool. They really class up the front fork, and I'm working...
