2 coats and I'm leaving it to cure, I may do some satin clear over it I may leave it flat, I 'll figure that out after the final wet sanding, then, assembly time. I like the color I'm not 100% on the flat, any thoughts anyone?

Paint day!!! We've had rain off and on for the past few days, today its sunny, not too humid, so perfect for shooting paint.

I finally got all the paint off and got around to shooting primer. I also cleaned my shop, trued my wheels and got my tires mounted. I got a lot done today in spite of the fact that my shop isn't air conditioned and it's already in the triple digits here. Texas:confused:

I got the frame and fork most of the way back to bare with just a little sanding/wire brushing needed tomorrow. If the weathers cooperative I should have it in primer by tomorrow evening.

Off topic I got offered an internship at the San Angelo nature center today, I'm going back to school for a degree in ecology and wildlife management so that's definitely something for the resume. Plus I get to hang out with these guys; Grey fox BobcatTortoise Trash panda and Mrs. Link's...

I test shot the Rustoleum on some scrap metal and am quite pleased. The camouflage paint is as flat as flat can be and as I've used the black in it before, I can testify it's hard as nails. This time around I'll shoot a grey primer base and shoot the sage green over that, done. I think the super...

I went out and picked up some Easy-off and two cans of Rustoleum camouflage in sage green. It may end up having more of a military look this time around which is fine. If I end up deciding to sell it later down the road it'll likely be in San Antonio where there are 3 military bases so that...

Last night I picked up some more paint got up this morning and started shooting the frame and realized that apparently the paint I had used was not in stock so they filled its spot with a similar yet warmer green. It looks horrible:confused:. So I'll be stripping the frame back bare and starting...

On a side note, more parts were delivered today and I got my chainring looking like I want. I'm one of three builders using Three Arrows chainrings in this build off. Thats pretty cool.

Well the paint distressing was an epic fail. I've never used Valspar paints before and apparently they dry really hard. I wasn't expecting that and in applying more pressure took off more paint then I wanted to with a very uneven finish. Fortunately it was only the two top bars I was working on...

More good advice. I figured I'd go easy on it and just let the inevitable fall overs and crashes continue the process. Thats why I sandwiched the red oxide between the two coats of green. If the red gets scratched through or chipped it'll reveal more green. I'm pretty sure this one should look...

The rain ended up missing us for the afternoon so I got some more painting done. I shot my top coat. Now I just have to wait a few days for it to cure and then I get to try and work some faux finish magic. While it was nice outside I decided I'd shoot the cog, seatpost clamp and crank.

I finished blending, it's almost a shame that this is going to be covered up with paint. The areas where I want there to be a more bold presence of green I left more green so that even if I go through the top coat I'll simply be going into more green. There's some rain moving in so I won't get...

I got my 3rd and a half coat of paint shot today. Red oxide with a peppering of black primer. When it's dry I'll hit it with some steel wool to blend it, then shoot my sage green top coat over that. Then I have to let that cure, then I can distress it. It'll probably look like an old penny thats...

Took a family day trip to the Llano river an hour and a half to the south of us and what should stumble across digging around the woods... ...this guy. It was cool to see one not run over at the side of the road.

Now I'm even happier to have this frame. The box it was shipped in saved my windshield when we got some golf ball sized hail.

I hear you, my 2 oldest bikes ('47 Hawthorne and '55 Huffy) get riden the most. In fact yesterday I took my Electra Ratrod out for a spin and realized it was probably the 4th time I had taken it out. There's definitely something about the older frames that just feels better. That said, this...

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely give that a shot. Apparently I just can't leave paint well enough alone, I was looking at the pristine fresh paint and imagining the heartbreak the first time I crashed and scratched it. My solution, scratch it first intentionally, why not. I can't not build...
