Rata del Rio Concho: 1955 Huffy father/son project.

Things went a little better with the frame, but I still plan on roughing it up and giving it some rust.I rarely build bikes with paint and my plans for this involves it being the beater I throw on the back of the car when we hit the state park or just something for cruising down to the river. In...

I decided to throw the seat and chainguard on to get an idea how everything looked together and ended up taking the too glossy to be called satin, black down with some 0000 steel wool. I think it fits together a little better now.

We had a slight misunderstanding as to how far away from the object you're painting you need to stand when you use spraypaint. So I had to sand the fork down and start over, or do I?o_O Maybe do the same treatment on the frame? A little peroxide and vinegar? Clear coat or not. Maybe this...

I got the rivet holes welded up and ground. Then got the first coat of primer shot with a little help from Batman. We ran out of red primer half way through the fork so we switched to grey, same primer different color, it should look cool when the paint chips over time. We'll do the second coat...

So, I don't have a Huffy headbadge and was kinda thinking about slapping one of these stickers I've gotten from @Smoopy's over the years on the head tube. Let me know your opinion fellow Rat Rodders, should I weld up the headbadge rivet holes before I prime the frame or leave them and just...

I busted out the angle grinder and wire wheel today and got most of the left over paint off then got Henry to hand sand all the areas the grinder missed... for about 10 minutes, he's 6 and has ADD, 10 minutes is good. I finished the rest. The weather's supposed to be in the upper 70s tomorrow...

    'MOONSHINE ??? ( Express or Bandit )'

It might look kind of cool with a crate in the front and crate wood inserts on the rear rack. Here's some I did with bead board on my BO9 bike "Pepperbox Special" On mine I used an old 40s truck ashtray for a storage compartment beneath the rack, I'm sure that's not something readily available...

Love those tires I've got a cream set on my 47 Hawthorne and my wife has red on her 63 Schwinn Racer. They seem to be pretty good on longevity as well I've got 400+ miles on mine and they've still got plenty of rubber left and are crack free. Great choice.

Sorry, I got lost in nostalgia, Wirth automotive, they sell a ton of old school car stuff has just the chrome bullets, if you don't want to try and figure out a horn button and just want a cool center cap, you might want to check them out.

Harlequin T - FINI (or not)

Mooneyes has some these cool chrome bullet horn buttons. I had one on the white octagonal steering wheel I had on my 63 Ford Falcon when I got married almost 15 years ago. Man I miss that car, flat black, lowered, 4 door with shaved rear handles and side trim, green Mexican blanket interior...

Awesome! One of my wife's grandfathers flew B-17s in the Pacific during WWII. At the time He was USAAF, then USAF when it came into being in 1947, he retired a Lieutenan Colonel. Her other grandfather was a USAAF fighter pilot, also in the Pacific and then flew F-84s and was a member of the...

Picked out paint. We're going with Rustoleum's hunt club green satin for the frame, if we use the chainguard, it and the fork will likely be satin black, if not the fork will be green as well. This weekend we'll be going to San Angelo State Park to pick up our yearly state parks pass. There are...

After the second application of stripper there's not much paint left.I've got to figure out how to get the chrome fork crown off, if that's even possible, so that we can start stripping it down. The one that's on it currently is a Murray fork with a bent steer tube that I use while stripping...

I applied paint stripper earlier and let it sit and bubble and do it's job. Then I gave it a good scrubbing with a wire brush and then let Henry go to town with the sprayer. In the end we had a frame with a lot less paint on it.We've still got a ways to go before paint but we're having a ton of...
