My 1936 CWC Build - A Work in Progress

Markim, Not sure where New Troy is as I've never heard of it. Troy, Michigan was named after settlers from Troy, New York arrived here in the late 1800's. Reportedly, Troy, Michigan is in the top 25 safest cities in the Country...and that is in spite of the mess/cesspool with the City and...

My 1936 CWC Build - A Work in Progress

I picked up this barn find at an Antique Store in Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. After checking with the fine folks on CABE, it was determined that I likely had a 1936 CWC Model bike, as the head badge is missing. My conundrum is what to call it? It was thought that the paint was in great...

My latest build - 1949 Schwinn DX

This was a basket case of a frame that was badly mistreated in its earlier lives. I paid $40.00 for her. The rear triangle is noticeably bent on the left side but not enough to affect its ride or tracking, someone apparently fired a staple gun at the seat post as there are numerous staple like...

    Black bikes

Okay, I'll pile on, too... I have 3 more black bikes but I'll save those for later... :D

    First Rat

Amazing! With every tweak, I think it looks great just as is and then you add something and it just keeps on improving the more you tweak it. You certainly have the eye for the small details and how to tie it all together. It's totally balanced. A very impressive build and a beautiful bike! 8)

    KING DADDIO

1952 Schwinn Hornet - I put a fork in it this afternoon

Dean and xddorox, Thanks for your compliments! Dean, please see the email I sent to you as to where you can possibly get those tires...hopefully there are still some left.

1952 Schwinn Hornet - I put a fork in it this afternoon

Here it is...The Crock Pot Alarm has sounded - My big fat caboose has already started to bend the seat post (that will make two in less than two weeks!) Since the last photos posted in the Gallery Section, I've changed out certain components to the following: Seat: Phat Cycles Wheels...

    The "Casey Jones" done! (sorta)

Great Job! Would like to see a shot of the set back/laid back seat post as I just "bent" mine beyond repair yesterday while riding... :(

    First Rat

Made up Set Back Seat Post How well does it hold up? I'm concerned because Lord Big Bottom (aka me, myself) was pedaling in downtown Berkley on their so - so sidewalks this afternoon and apparently the sine waves from the sidewalks and my big caboose met together in a perfect storm and I bent...

    Rat Rod Ver. 2.0 - I'm done...or Maybe Not.

Thanks for all the compliments and great advice. I'll certainly put more air into the tires as suggested and I'll have to ride Stevie1964''s Electra around the block a few times to see if I can get used to his 3 speed Nexxus. It will be somewhat difficult for this former newspaper delivery boy...

    Rat Rod Ver. 2.0 - I'm done...or Maybe Not.

Since I wasn't happy with my first attempt at building a Rat Rod from scratch, I took most of those parts and put them on this bike. Just like Microsoft doesn't get anything right until ver. 3.0 of their software issues, I'm currently fumbling along the way getting towards ver 3.0. Maybe at this...

Weekend Project - 2008 Schwinn SSX

Pictured below is the bike that first got me into cruisers. Perhaps this should be posted on the other forum Rat Rod has - Schwinn Bicycle Forum, but some people here wanted to see my other bikes...here is the first one. This past weekend I decided to switch out the White Wall tires and paint...

    My First Build

Ledsled, Thanks for your vision. Not sure how old you are, but I've lived that life already and don't wish to relive it again. No offense, but that is what my late father envisioned in 1971 or so. He brought home a banana seat, ape bars and a sissy bar that seemed to be 2 feet above my head...

YOU DIRTY RAT! ---- (ALL DONE)

Re: YOU DIRTY RAT! ---- (TRUSS RODS & SPEEDO) Having said all that, I do like the rear tail lamp treatment...it would be great if you could provide a close up from all sides on how you did that. I do think that adds a great touch to any bike. I purchased a bunch of truck lights like this from...

YOU DIRTY RAT! ---- (ALL DONE)

Re: YOU DIRTY RAT! ---- (TRUSS RODS & SPEEDO) RatRod, I think your wonderful artistic and graphic skills are calling home to you on this one...after you added the trusses. You are correct in stating that it probably looks better without the truss rods. It is cleaner looking without...on this...

    My First Build

Thanks KOTA! Heck, I'll even buy the ammo! I can't tell you how many times I have had the urge to run over Mom/Dad and their 6 - 8 goslings this past spring! They really seem to get upset when they see someone's legs going fast in a circular motion on a bike. Yet if I jog near them, they start...
