    DANA transmission.

I'm way too organized. I found the original DANA mailing in 3 minutes. I just scanned 9 pages into an email to myself and they all came through. The attachments contain 4 pages Dana Transmission Installation Instructions (files Dana_1, Dana_2, Dana_3, & Dana_4); 1 page of Gear Charts (file...

    DANA transmission.

I think I still have these somewhere. Just need to poke around. I have plenty of time, having been sequestered in my apartment for the last 2 months. Although I work part time at an essential business, my bosses and I agreed because of age and health problems I should stay home. Will post when I...

    Strange Rear Wheel

I was poking around Ebay and came across this really strange looking rear wheel. Any ideas as to what it is, what it was used for? Strange Wheel

    Fenders. Yea or ney?

I think fenders are a matter of personal choice or style. Years ago I was an early customer of Woody's Fenders, putting a set of flat fenders on my TREK, also adding wood veneer to the chain guard and water bottle. Woody now makes curved wood fenders as well as chain guards and racks. His motto...

    Bicycle Radios

It has been a while since this thread was opened for posting but I came across an item that needs to be posted here. Currently on Ebay there is a listing for a "Pre-war bicycle radio, SAXONY model OPR-180" that is absolutely stunning (and expensive!). Only 6" by 4" in the shape of a bullet...

    Polish bikes

In the summers of 1973 and 1975 I worked on Nantucket Island at a bike rental shop. After the bike craze hit in 1973/1974, 3 speed bikes were hard to get. In 1975 the shop purchased a number of TYLER 3 speeds. They held up fairly well under rental conditions. Years later when I was working for...

    Late Entry For Build-Off 14?

Some friends sent me a photo of an art installation from the American Art Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington DC. Since art can be interpretive, my take on this- I think this is a metaphor for the United States... one country governed by 2 political parties, each pulling in the opposite...

    Funky Folder

Found a really funky folder on Ebay. Thought it would make the perfect Boardwalk bike, as the wheel base is only 33-1/2"s axle to axle. It is well designed and well made. Stood up to FedEx's best efforts to destroy the shipping box. The company name is FUERDI. Sounds Italian but made in China. I...

    VINTAGE BICYCLE PHOTOS

Came across a really fantastic bicycle book- "Early Cycle Lighting; 1868-1948" by Peter W. Card. It takes you from oil/paraffin/kerosene lamps, candle lamps, carbide lamps, to electric bike lights. It has an amazing selection of photos of bikes and lights. I bought the book on the UK Ebay but...

    Brompton Folding bike

I've had 2 Stridas. A single speed years ago and more recently, a 3 speed in the crank. Cool bikes.

    Brompton Folding bike

I've had at least a dozen folders over the years. Currently I have a Bike Friday I bought back in 1993 (frame# 58), which is more of a dis-assembling bike than a folder. My other folder is a 16" CITIZEN TOKYO and is very well made. Their pricing is extremely reasonable. Check out their website-...

    VINTAGE BICYCLE ADS

OK, here's something for all the old guys... do you remember the Johnson Smith catalogs? They were full of tricks, toys, games, books, musical instruments, and bike stuff. I found a 1950's catalog on Ebay. Check out the bike items... and their prices!

    Bicycle Radios

I was able to pick up a DARB BICYCLE RADIO on Ebay a while back. The 67-1/2 volt battery it takes is no longer made but a conversion battery can be found on Ebay that is made up of multiple 9 volt batteries. I put one of these and the 2 D-Cells in and hoped for the best since this is a tube...

    Electra Bicycle Pics

It is a repop of a light that was used on the 1948 Roadmaster Bike. In the 1990's a couple thousand complete repop bikes were made for Hammacher Schlemmer, the high end catalog store. They tried to sell them for thousands of dollars but had few takers. In the end they sold them as job lots to...

    Vintage Bicycle Show Report

Went to what was billed as a vintage bike show which was being held at a car cruise event in Salem, New Jersey. Unfortunately, the JERSEY DEVILS Bike Club was not there, as they were hosting a bike show in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. There were only a dozen bikes on display but there were truck...
