Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .. DONE! (OK, Almost!)

I don't know of an adaptive headset, but that is definitely something one of the manufacturers could come up with! These are not the first pre-war bikes I've had, but are the first with this type of setup. The headsets on both bikes are FSA products. Both of them are 1 & 1/8, and both appear to...

Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .. DONE! (OK, Almost!)

Re: Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .... I didn't even want to mess with the fork legs other than cleaning them up a little, as I like the way the fork looks, and find the aesthetic end of it to be interesting as it was. I'll be leaving them as they are. Thanks for reading, Rat Royale...

Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .. DONE! (OK, Almost!)

Thanks for looking, and here is one of the photos from Catahula's ad as I have not really changed anything with the rear brake other than hooking it up and doing a little spacing correction for a "rub free" alignment after changing the inner parts of the hub and the mounting piece for the disc...

Pete, Good eye. Yeah they are. Got lucky and found a nice used set of Club Roost pedals to put on them too. I like it, and think they look kind of "official" klunker-ish. I want to get on it! This rain is a pain. REC

Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .. DONE! (OK, Almost!)

Over the last few nights, I have spent some time finishing up the "test fit" of the second of the two projects I got from Catahula. If it EVER stops raining here while I am OFF work, I may get a little seat time in, and once tested, it'll come back apart to have the frame done up. If it rides...

    SHOW US YOUR KLUNKERZ

Here is my klunker idea. This one started as Catahulas' idea, and then retired to Florida and is the first of two that I got from him. The other one is nowhere close to done yet. '36 B-67 Rat Royale REC Elsewhere

Re: Formerly Catahula's Klunkers .... #2 NOW DONE! Nothing much left to do...... almost. Here's the last shots taken just after the grips were put in place an hour or so ago. Still have to get the valve stem caps (dice!) and the longer handlebars, but here is most of it - in living color! ;D...

    Girvin fork..

My swervin' Girvin..... Hope to have the rest of it done in the next couple of days. Wheels are sitting on the floor, bars and tires are gonna be here today. Gotta dig up the seat I want - which means moving about half the stuff in the shed! Rat Royale REC Elsewhere

Formerly Both of Catahula's Klunkers .. DONE! (OK, Almost!)

The first of two that he put up for sale a couple of months ago. I saw it, and the little voices in my head told me I needed it. Like a hole in the head. But I did what they said. It started out like this: It's been disassembled and re-started. The fork elastomers apparently melted in...

Thick Brick Fatti-O Etc GALLERY - Show your FAT TIRES!

Back in 2004/2005 - before the 80 and 100mm rims got to be readily available, there were other options. The Large Marge from Surly was the big one. These were built with that rim and the Fatti-O combination at that time, and have been in use since. "Stretch Orangestrong" - 7 speed steel hub...

Possible 30's schwinn, need help with I.D.

I think this photo gets it done. Based on some other bikes with similar numbers, you're looking at 1939. It fits in between several others of which one is a documented bike. I must have missed this on the CABE.. Nice old bike! Rat Royale REC Elsewhere

    20 x 2.125 black wall tires

Not new, I've had 'em for a long time. There are less expensive vendors though. I've bought them from several, the last was off ebay from a seller called uglyrim I think. He sells them as singles, doubles and triples (for the 20" trike nuts) and the tires with shipping are still cheap. Ugly's...

    Shifter ideas

I like your idea. Why non-functional? Lots more fun to actually make it shift something.... 7 speed internal in the back, and this works well enough that it has been in use for about 6 years. The only drawback was the first shift knob (same as the one in the photo, but larger size) was heavy...

Dyno Vs Kustom Kruiser Vs Aftermarket

Interesting... The Roadster (A Dyno!) the store had in stock when I got my Slick Daddy had not only paint chips, but rust on the chrome parts. Not bad, but noticeable. I still have no rust, but I do have the "chippy" paint. I don't honestly think it's the paint that's the problem, I thnik it...
