Bike to survive the end of america?

I find it alarming that China is becoming interested in cars at the same time America is getting reacquainted with bicycles. Regan would not have wanted it this way. We need to impose tariffs on all Chinese goods asap. The reason we don't, I suspect, is that they own about 2 trillion of our...

    Crow's foot lacing

Nice work, but I'm just happy building wheels successfully, never mind custom spoke patterns. After some ill fated attempts as a 13 year old (and some recent reading), I successfully built my first set of wheels in 25 years! I also found out my neighbor (who has owned a successful bicycle...

Cheap triples? or Strut bars? For my Hawthorne (no pics)

Thanks for the input guys. I'm a pic loser right now. I have an old digital camera, but I can't seem to reload the old driver to it. It's messing up on me. Joe and Don, you nailed it. The Jessee James forks would be totally appropriate. They are much better looking. I can save the OCC forks...

Cheap triples? or Strut bars? For my Hawthorne (no pics)

I'm on the fence about using some OCC triple forks I bought expressly for my Hawthorne build which is almost complete. I took the time to redo the original parts, just in case I changed my mind. Well, that time has come and I can't seem to. The only issue with the occ forks (which would be...

    Tiger Cycle from Holland

Questions like that are generally considered pretty taboo on enthusiast sites, because it makes you look like a hit and run member, only there to find a bike's worth. I think a bike like that is more valuable the closer you are to an urban/metropolitan area. A bike that will sell for $20 from...

    How to de-bling my chrome?

Or you could go 150 grit paper and prime/paint in a few minutes. Lol.

    How to de-bling my chrome?

Soak the parts in White vinegar for about 1-2 weeks. The plating will come off in big flakes. Especially if it's not the old stuff.

    GROCERY GETTER ...

Sweet. I think you made the right decision leaving the original patina. Looks like a display piece. Awesome.

    Mongoose KOS

Lambo, I have one I'm selling for a friend. Original parts but grips brake levers and tires. Candy red forks (painted and are nice), newer decals, rims look stripped of anno. The chrome frame is basically perfect. No seat. Let me know.
